More than one wire on the same object
Archive: 9 posts
Unless I'm missing something, right now you can have only one wire going to an object. I don't see why they couldn't have it so you can put more than one wire on the same object (by wire I essentially mean more than one switch). I think this would make many things a lot easier, and possibly allow for new stuff! | 2008-12-31 04:05:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
It would also make things a lot harder on the devs. You could put two contradictory signals on the same thing at once. Which would happen? Besides that, it woudn't allow for anything new. Anything you could do with two wires you can do with one. | 2008-12-31 04:09:00 Author: BassDeluxe Posts: 984 |
Hmm.. maybe I just need to learn how to use switches better... | 2008-12-31 04:21:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Oh wow, you should be able to hook two switches up and if the signal contradicts little sparks should fly from whatever the wires are hooked up to. LOL. | 2008-12-31 04:26:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
Would be nice..but then what would all the great logic authors do with their time? I'm convinced that you can pretty much achieve anything you want with the switch system the way it is, it takes a little bit of thinking but that's all the fun. | 2008-12-31 04:34:00 Author: Jaeyden Posts: 564 |
Hmm.. maybe I just need to learn how to use switches better... You're the only one who said it If somene was able to make a calculator out of those switches, you can pretty much create anything. | 2008-12-31 05:05:00 Author: [OGM]CrAcKhEaD Posts: 26 |
Yeah, it's true. I wish I had more time!!! Arrgghh.. >( You see, I really am the type who would spend hours and hours just playing and experimenting with an editor like that -- I love engineering, science, physics, and the lot. I just don't have the time. I have all these ideas for great contraptions also. ..Ah well. I'll get around to it eventually | 2008-12-31 05:11:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
It is an interesting concept. Although pretty much anything can be done with middle systems right now, for example you press a button, it goes through a series of systems off screen which eventually... make a door open... I've built a rocket that with one button press fires all three stages including a system to drop you back down again. The amount of complexity you introduce is really up to you (and how well you can work out middle systems). Still, if they could work out a way to deal with conflicting switches it would make some systems a lot easier and simpler. | 2008-12-31 05:58:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
you can acheive this by making a hallowed out dark matter cube is what i did. and in the top middle make a magnetic switch and hook it up to the object you want either of your switches to activate. then on the bottom of the cube make one block with a magnetic key on it attached via a piston to the cube.. and make one of your switches attached to that piston on a directional setting( so when you pull it, it moves the piston up therefore activating your switch) do the same cube / switch set up with another one ...and there you go multiple switches activating the same object | 2008-12-31 19:51:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
