LBPC Crown Contest #6 - The Results




Hey peeps!
We made it!
So what have we been up to? Well, aside from taking our time to see your awesome entries, we've also been working on a little surprise for all the winners! We will now have an official LBPC6: A Quest For Glory: Winners Hub (http://lbp.me/v/eb4e3b) at the LBPCentralHub (http://lbp.me/u/LBPCentralHub) account on LBP2! We hope that these hubs will prove as successful as the Spotlight Hubs, and send some much-deserved exposure your way .

Well, about your levels.
We can't deny that when we were preparing this contest we wondered more than once if we were asking too much from you.

Well, actually we did, but we could have never imagined how insanely good your levels would be! This Community always has a way of surprising us.

We have been so happy, chuffed and honoured that 3 groups of epic and renowned Japanase creators joined this contest with their awesome creations.

Your epic sagas were incredible, from every perspective: Tech, visuals, story, gameplay... Every one from the the top 5 levels did something unique and innovative. We're so sorry that we can't give prizes to all of you, but we can sincerely say that you have been simply incredible.

Congrats to the winners, the runner ups, the honourable mentions and thanks a lot to the contest crew. I've only played the first 3 parts of the winner series (and the 4th one will be played soon, I hope), but they were mind blowing levels. The town exploration in the first level, the boulder chase in the second, and the suprise monsters attacks in the third level were gameplay sequences I'll never forget.

I must say it was extremely hard judging them down to the top 5. The standard of quality was very high and everyone was astounded. This made it very difficult to choose indeed. It was a close one, so much so that I wish everyone could have got something. I honestly feel that you are all winners.

There were some truly amazing and memorable experiences throughtout. Parts where I sat back, my mouth dropped open or I could hear myself saying OMG, wow, amazing, very clever and arrr.

I'm so glad we have entries from Japnese creators, you're definitely on another level (no pun intended). It's now opened my eyes even more to the LBP Japanese community.		2012-02-24 14:03:00

Oh wow! I was sure we wouldn't place at all. With all the great levels entered for the contest I was sure of it. There was alot of talent entering that made me nervous for our chances. Im really glad this was a diverse contest. It made it that much better and more fun. Also got to play some of the contestants other levels that I never heard of and became instant fans of them and thier level styles. I really cant wait for thier next levels to come out. Also thanks to dav1d0. You hyped the contest up with your progress updates and other stuff. Two months was a short amount of time for a 4 level story series and you guys made it look like a cake walk. I do wish everyone could get a prize for the time spent on the contest. Still, congrats to all the placers and runner ups. You made this a great contest and me a nervous wreck. Thanks for picking our series as the winner. My personal favorite is, Forgotten Dimention it's not the best but i really enjoyed to play it, it's worth checking that even if it's just mention.

Also is interesting that we had so much interest from Japan in this LBPCC, look like they love to make series and when you play level from Japan you always can expect something good ^^		2012-02-24 16:31:00

On a more serious note, congrats to the winners / runners up etc. Would of been nice to have been up there with y'all but we all had other projects running and that compromised our level of quality... but just wait to you see the stuff we've been working on =p puts our series to shame.

(not sure if anyone else will share what they have been up to... but lets just say I've been taking a closer look at the tech I used in lbpc2 XD)

Awesome! Thanks everyone for picking and playing our serires. There was some great competiiton out there and the more my friends said we got this contest in the bag the more I began to worry. I agree with L1ghtmare we were train wrecks. I've said it many times now but my favorite things about our series were the parts where we all came together with our abilities and ideas. Particularly level 1, and claiming the artifacts are two of the best examples of our teamwork. I also have to say that each of the other series in the competition brought their own unique styles and gameplay to the table and I wish that they could get prizes too but would settle for people getting out and playing them to experience the stories for themselves. @A-tziluth - thank you so much to you and your team for taking part. We all loved your series. The sticker work was some of the best I've ever seen and showed true artistry. The rats, the dragon and the main Boss were amazing and above all you told the story so well. The ending with the old man saying farewell and looking up at the moon was genuinely moving. Great work. Maybe the communities had to get closer earlier, but better late than never.

I must say that...the fire rat scene is one of top moments of LBP, stronger than anything MM did.

This must have been tough to judge cause of the huge amount of talent teaming together, each one bringing their own skills to the table creating some of the best stories in the game. I enjoyed them very much.

Hey mr-moneypenny, that's the spirit! There were some very cool moments in your series. You had some really good and creative platforming ideas in there. Part 1 was particularly good. It just all needs polishing a bit more. Four levels in 2 months is a big ask, though, I realise and there were only 2 creators on your team! I loved the ending to level 4 too. I genuinely laughed out loud. Have you thought about unlocking the later levels so it's easier for people to play them all? Some of the levels are pretty tough to pass so maybe unlocking would help get the later ones a few more plays.

OMG OMG really this results are the most enjoyable, first because there were high levels to enjoy next to my husband and other real friends because they were competing and finally got them the win, i'm really happy for all of you guys are great artists who deserved for much part of the royal family of LBP and in truth i have to congratulate them, and look forward to seeing your next great works they always do, know that i appreciate and am very happy with the result, and equally congratulations to 2nd and 3rd place as well as the honorable mentions. 2012-02-27 01:51:00

We thought about auto linking them from the scoreboard but alot of players do hate that...including me XD. They do all have lvl links in them so I guess thier choice is to only play lvl 1. We dont mind though since it gives more exposure to velvet and gets him more chances for players to hear his great music in the series and in his hubs. We think that we have asked very much with this contest, it was quite inhuman perhaps.

So, we tried to do a little more.
This is an ABSOLUTE EXCEPTION due to the peculiarity of the contest, but this time
only for this time
We will give LBPC pins to the 2nd and 3rd placement too.
I want to stress this enough.

My understanding is that crowns have to be supplied thought the Playstation Nnetwork Store, or whatever it's called now. It's DLC and has to be sent/activated codes generated and all that junk. But it's controlled by Sony.

The pins are much easier to offer but are still rare.

I think that this is a great thing for the 2nd and 3rd place to get the pins as a one off recognition for the epic nature of the contest!		2012-02-28 08:30:00

We did think about asking for more Crowns but in addition to the issues Mr_Fusion mentioned, we also thought that giving everyone Crowns would make it look MORE like a draw. The pins will still be very rare despite the extra ones being handed out on this occasion. As Omega said this is very definitely a one-off. We just wanted to do something to acknowledge the special nature of this contest and the amount of effort and hard work put in by all of the top three teams. 2012-02-28 09:09:00
