More (Possibly Specific) Sound Effects?

Archive: 20 posts

I think that there is a semi lack of sound effects in the game. To be more specific, I mean specific sounds. A door opening. A door closing.

Those are the ones off the top of my head.

But also

What about a chirping crickets sound effect????

Please also put forward your suggestions

Cheers, flyinhawaiian

More human voice sound effects. Those are the most useful.2012-02-24 02:35:00

Yeah I agree with Lemurboy, what in the world were they thinking when they made the sound for humans in LBP? They all sound like animals crying over something. The DaVinci and King ones are the only ones that sound okay in my opinion on the human vocals chip. DaVinci sounds like John Cleese and the king sounds like morgan freeman laughing. The rest I try ans avoid as best I can2012-02-24 10:21:00

Sound cues would be nice. Like cinematic music, but even shorter, to add to a level's experience.2012-02-26 00:05:00

Hmmm interesting thread... currently for a project I'm doing, i'd quite like a constant breathing sound effect... like for a diver or an astronaut.

Something else off the top of my head, a jungle sound with randomised insect, birdcalls and monkey noises... maybe a city one too

Ambiance sounds!? Nice! Hadn't even thought of that!

Just having a whole new set of human voices would be nice. Regular ones for both male and female instead of using the ones we have already. Also being able to adjust the pitch of the voices. Say you take a Higginbottom voice, you would also be able to make it high and sqeaky or very deep and low.2012-02-26 16:24:00

That's... not what I meant. I just want more grunts, yells, laughs, and whatever else. ANYTHING, as long as it's the voice of something.

Turbo whine for engines and machines. The closest analogues already present in the game are way too low in pitch to be useful.2012-02-27 18:02:00

A sound I would like is a missile engine power rise. That would be an epic sound for rockets firing and stuff like that.2012-02-27 20:57:00

how about an actual tool that allows you to take a base sound and alter it? perhaps a selection of waveforms thrown in so that you can make your own sounds?2012-02-28 02:56:00

Actually, something that I would like is for the speed of the sound and the pitch of the sound to be separated into two sliders, for one-shot sounds. That way we could make long screaming sounds at a normal pitch so it doesn't sound like it's in slow-motion, and then some. 2012-03-03 14:21:00

I agree with everything here. I also want to say just more REALISTIC sounds. For example, the voices were brought up a few times. Just a plain voice would work, not all this make-believe cartoonish voices. But you can't really blame MM.. Creators are going above and beyond and are creating such more realistic things than they though we would, so they probably didn't try to make realistic voices and sounds. A new DLC pack with all of these examples is probably what we would get if they follow through with this idea.2012-03-16 04:23:00

What I REALLY want is to be able to chose just ONE sound effect. Currently, when you chose a sound you get 2-4 SIMILAR sound effects coming out of one speaker, and this isnt consistent enough for some of the more intensive sound design.2012-03-16 04:30:00

I totally second any requests for more crowd and people sound effects.
Regarding people sounds, I really like the Sackbot and Meanie sound objects, but I'd like a few more categories just like them, but less robotic. Like a 'Sackboy' category or something, which is a similar series of greetings, squeaks and grunts.
Maybe some other species sound objects if they ever add any more special skins.

I was really sad to find no Mountain Lion scream. It would be a very useful sound effect.
Along with bird chirping ambient noises, and a "Jungle ambience" noise.

There is at least one ambient bird chirping noise in the game already,

Though I agree, ambient sounds would be very nice.

And I also agree with what poorjack said about allowing us to specifically select which of the 2-4 sound recordings they have for most sounds. Consistency can sometimes be vital.
