That's right: one of the funnest online multiplayer games to become a PS3 exclusive, Warhawk, has a sequel coming up soon, and it just went into open beta! The download is about 1301 MB (1.3 GB), so expect quite a wait (it should be worth it, IMO).

Who's ready to start zooming past everything and everybody in some awesome dogfights?

It's simply insane! Haven't got other words.

Expect a 330 patch before play.

It's fun, though it usually ends up with one team sitting in the other's base just killing everyone.
Hopefully they remove the ability to build within an opposing team's base for the retail release.
Also the hawks don't have any air to ground pickups in the beta, which helped stop this situation a huge amount in Warhawk.

Edit: And there's no option to join friends in the beta.

Other than that though it is very similar to Warhawk (A HUGE plus) and the build and battle system is very unique.
e.g.
Our team was getting destroyed at our base.
I built a hawk and flew to an open area and built a spawn pod.
The whole team then spawned here and we built an entirely new base.
We didn't win, but just the idea that:
You don't capture bases, you build them.
really hit me at that point.

Just finished playing for a good amount of hours. HOLY S**T, THIS IS THE FUNNEST ONLINE GAME EVER! While it's sad no one uses mics during games, I still enjoy the hectic warfare and building concept of the game.

Also, I love those moments when you feel like a God (metaphorically speaking). The match barely began, so I built a Garage and quickly went for the flag in CTF. After I got the flag, those Outcast scums blew up my Razorback. Somehow, with no help near me, I was able to dodge multiple rockets, defend myself by killing two of their men, and then run back all the way across the Scourge map while being chased by a Hawk and another Outcast on foot. I had to dodge a s**t load of bullets, but the best part came during the end: when I neared the base, the Hawk jumped and tried to stop me. Other Outcasts came in with Razorbacks and our team was just going crazy with shooting. It was one of the best firefights I participated in, especially since I killed one of my chasers and capped the flagged seconds later. I felt like the hero of the game since we ended up winning with 1-0 in the end. And ALL of this happened i the first 3 minutes of the game.

Day 1 purchase for sure.

The beta is about to end. So, how was your experience in the beta?2012-03-28 01:06:00

It was certainly an experience.

And by that I mean it was fun as hell. Easily one of the most fun and versatile games I have ever played. I don't think anything will ever match dropping tons of walls and sentries on the enemy base while running them down with a Sidewinder. In retrospect, that's actually a terrible strategy. Whatever, it was fun.

I'm definitely buying it day one. Only 42 more days to go! Unless it's delayed.

I'm hoping they do delay it, because that'll mean they're working on it. Honestly, the building your base to your liking is great, but by dumbing down the flight mechanics they killed the fun out of dogfights for a lot of Warhawk vets ('08'er representin&apos. There's no longer any skill involved with Starhawk's dogfights, only being able to outsmart your opponent or playing against a terrible player. Most of the times I play against crappy fighters, and I know they're from CoD or BF3 because they don't know how to fire missiles, only the machine gun. The only time I enjoyed dogfighting was with another vet who knew what he was doing; we lasted for the entire match in the sky, chasing and shooting each other with no breaks, and we were taking out each other's teammates whenever they tried to intervene at the same time.

Best 1v1 ever. <3

Definatley enjoyed it ( got into the private beta, so I've been playing for quite a while) As a die hard tank pilot in warhawk, I'm a bit gutted that there seems to be no heavey duty ground vehicles? I was suprised by how diverse the maps were too, I'll be honest I was expecting just a bunch of re skinned versions of the badlands, maybe set at different times of day. I'll buy it day 1, IF they show of either A) 10 unique zones (as in ten environments, each with small medium and large varients) OR preferabley B) at least one grassy happy not desert map.2012-03-29 16:17:00
