Aliens suck!

Archive: 13 posts

Takes only 6 min to play! All three games in one level. 2-4 players recomended, because one of the three games is no fun for a single player. I struggled with the life gate logic which ports players from menu to game and back again, but I think I fixed the problem. If the level ends before going to the score board, please tell me.

this looks rather interesting. I shall add it to m....whoa ho ho ho, I almost said the "Q" word. No worries, it's definitely added and I will play it. Someone noticed that I say "I'll add it to my queue" a lot and....dang, I just said it. oh well.2012-02-22 13:06:00

A rather a fun collection of mini games! I think that the cow abduction game goes on a little too long though. It would also be good to see how many shots were left in the gun. The background of the stage could be more polished.

I thought that the pit battle was pretty clever too.

Thanks for playing! Seeing how many shots are left is a good idea, can't believe I never thought of that. Also I am impressed you made it through the full two minutes of Cow Abduction, as the game ends if all the cows are abducted. The number of alien ships increases with the number of players in an attempt to even out the difficulty. Was it challenging? You must be good at protecting cows. Queued one of your levels too. The font's look interesting.2012-02-25 01:09:00

I'm good at protecting cows too! I made it through. The reload feature kept hanging up on me a little and I agree with Fusion, it does last a little long. The pit battle was clever but took me a few minutes to really get the hang of it. The last one, I didn't really understand what the goal here was. Good level though and I enjoyed playing it. Thank you for sharing it.2012-02-25 02:14:00

I played all three minigames on my own. I bet it's more fun when you have friends around I liked the pit battle and the cow abduction game, in the third mini game the AI is... weird I gave it a positive rating2012-02-25 18:42:00

Thanks for playing! Yes, Bombardo is not a single player game. The A I is just an empty sac-bot waiting for a player. The task of making A I work for single player and not for multi player changes not only that sac bot but the player sensor scoring system too. If you were two players you could fling aliens at each other just like dodge ball, except aliens splat.

EDIT:

Thanks for playing!
I am sure you are awesome at protecting cows. If too many people make it to the end I will have to up the difficulty level. I'm working on making the shots remaining visible by the player's cross hairs. The reload feature takes a full second to complete. Which seems short except when the farmer is yelling at you and five aliens ships are descending on your cows. I did this on purpose to slow down all you fps experts. And lets be honest how fast can you reload a shotgun in real life? Well, you professional cow protectors have your tricks, I'm sure. I hope this is what you were talking about, and not some bug in the logic.

The last mini game is dodge ball. It requires at least 2 players. I know if you are a single player it looks like A I that isn't working right. I'm considering changing this, but the task is daunting.

dodgeball, that explains it. I live in Texas, way out in the country. I can reload pretty dang quick. also, please avoid double posting. click "edit" in your first post then add in what you need to.
the mods really frown on double posting. Just looking out for you.
Not sure why the "quote" feature isn't working for you. maybe ask Aya the next time he is on.

I also played this singleplayer, so I can't comment too much on the Dodgeball other than I wasn't scoring points, was I meant to? Or did I need another player?

Cow abduction was pretty straight forward, by the time I played this you must have added the remaining shots indicator which was a good idea from Mr_Fusion.
Oh, and by the way, I suck at saving cows!

My favorite of all three was the pit battle game and the pace it picked up after a while. I wasn't sure what the bounce-pad alien was at first until it launched me.
Is there a purpose for it? Sorry if I've missed something, I just couldn't work it out...

Overall I did have fun playing, but felt it was all over pretty quick.

Reyals, Thanks for playing. Sorry, no points for single players in the dodge ball. It wouldn't be fair to the scores of those who are trying to hit a moving and dodging target. I could put AI on the bot standing there, but wow that changes a lot of logic, on the bots, on the aliens and the scoring system. If enough people play as single players and request it... lets just say I'm thinking about it.

The bounce pad Alien launches you high enough to land on the upper ledges, where there is an alien stink bomb you can throw down on the aliens and other players in the pit. Just don't stay on the ledge thinking you are safe up there... you're not.
