Grrr...Damm you attract o gel!! Help needed!
Archive: 13 posts
Hey Guys! I currently building a level and using the attract o' gel in some parts, I've designed a piece of platform with the gel that I'm hoping to emit (using the emitter block trick) during game play. I tested/played it many times before capturing it, it was all good! After capturing it I went to my objects and opened the captured object up next to the original (I do this to check that I've captured the whole platform & compare etc) I tested it, the attract o' gel acted strangely ![]() ![]() The thing I dnt understand is I haven't used the attract o tweaker on them, so how could they change? I tried many things over and over to try and solve the problem, re editted it, deleted the gel and re make them, added the tweaker + edit it, re capture it but nothing works. ![]() It seems the problem only arises in the captured copy ones, I still have the original and that's still fine. Has anybody else had/have a similar problem? I've nearly finished my level, this is holding me back and making me sad lol! Thanks! xx | 2012-02-21 14:13:00 Author: dureva1 ![]() Posts: 20 |
Did you use the LIVE CAPTURE option in the emmiter settings? Using the LIVE CAPTURE, you only capture the image or object as it now stands. Sometimes, when not using LIVE CAPTURE and finding the object in your objects bag, the object you want goes all weird and funny. I have not had this problem with the A-O-G but I have with normal materials etc. in the past. | 2012-02-21 14:19:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
No I didnt use the live capture, just the normal (capture an object) in the tools bag! I will give it a go now! cross fingers! ![]() | 2012-02-21 14:24:00 Author: dureva1 ![]() Posts: 20 |
I am not saying that it will work but at least this way you know what you're placing down. I will cross em all for you. | 2012-02-21 14:26:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
No it didnt work, well, actually it didn't emit, I havn't used the live capture before, maybe Im doin it wrong ![]() | 2012-02-21 14:38:00 Author: dureva1 ![]() Posts: 20 |
You capture it and then place it where you want the object to emit. Try emitting the old way and then when one comes out of the emitter, grab it and check the properties of it. What tools do you have on it? For example Anti-gravity tools, Material tweakers, destroyers etc.~? | 2012-02-21 14:42:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |

As far as I know, live capturing doesn't work after last update. | 2012-02-21 14:57:00 Author: goranilic ![]() Posts: 332 |
Think you may be right. I had a go at using it before and it failed miserably. I love this feature too ![]() | 2012-02-21 15:14:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
My issue with live capturing is that it always seems to move where it emits when I move the object I captured. This was before the update you speak of. | 2012-02-22 04:53:00 Author: Speedynutty68 ![]() Posts: 1614 |
Yeah I hated it at first but found it was okay if you weren't trying to emit in closed spaces. However, after the update it doesn't do anything. I wonder if the emitters that already used live capture have broken? Or if it's just when trying to do new ones... Bad news for Hopping Fence replicas if it is. | 2012-02-22 10:09:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
Yeah, they all broke if you go into a level and edit something it goes to pot. It also broke some of the official stages to. | 2012-02-23 08:55:00 Author: Mr_Fusion ![]() Posts: 1799 |
I imagine that the hopping fences level might be broken then maybe? Because there's no way that didn't use the live capture. | 2012-02-23 10:54:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
If you changed the size of the gel material would the attract range still be the same as the problem attract gel? | 2012-02-23 18:05:00 Author: Rokusho ![]() Posts: 45 |
