Simple Question...
Archive: 12 posts
Hey! Im new to this forum. I mainly signed up for help with LBP. One question I have, is how do you make a grab-able object that descends/ascends when you grab it? I know it involves a grab switch, and maybe a winch(?). But I dont understand how you make it ascend or descend. In the level I'm creating now I want one that will descend. How would I go about doing this? Thanks in advance! | 2008-12-31 02:12:00 Author: spacefox00 ![]() Posts: 35 |
Use a piston attached to a grab switch on a grabbable material. The switch should be set to on/off. | 2008-12-31 02:15:00 Author: moleynator ![]() Posts: 2914 |
Use a piston attached to a grab switch on a grabbable material. The switch should be set to on/off. I've seen this done with a winch though, a lot of times in the story levels. How? | 2008-12-31 02:16:00 Author: spacefox00 ![]() Posts: 35 |
Same way... They (Pistons and winches) can both be controlled in the same way. | 2008-12-31 02:19:00 Author: moleynator ![]() Posts: 2914 |
I think you want it set to directional instead of on/off. | 2008-12-31 02:21:00 Author: DRT99 ![]() Posts: 431 |
So, basically you attach a sponge to a winch, place a grab switch on the sponge, and connect the green wire to the winch? I'm pretty sure I've tried that and gotten no effect. Let me try again. Thanks for the help also moleynator. ![]() | 2008-12-31 02:21:00 Author: spacefox00 ![]() Posts: 35 |
You may want it set to directional instead of on/off though. How exactly do you want it to control? Do you want it to descend and stay descended? Descend then ascend when let go? Or just descend, then ascend all while hanging on? | 2008-12-31 02:23:00 Author: BassDeluxe ![]() Posts: 984 |
I think you want it set to directional instead of on/off. Unless you also want to be able to ascend again after. Sorry about not mentioning that. | 2008-12-31 02:26:00 Author: moleynator ![]() Posts: 2914 |
I want it to descend and then ascend when let go. | 2008-12-31 02:26:00 Author: spacefox00 ![]() Posts: 35 |
Edit: Irrelevant now | 2008-12-31 02:26:00 Author: gripper92 ![]() Posts: 38 |
I want it to descend and then ascend when let go. Directional then. | 2008-12-31 02:27:00 Author: moleynator ![]() Posts: 2914 |
Directional then. Ah, thank you then! I'm gonna test it out now. EDIT: Uh...dumb question. Inverted or no? What does checking inverted do? My guess is it makes it go the opposite direction when grabbed. If so...it shouldnt be inverted....right? | 2008-12-31 02:28:00 Author: spacefox00 ![]() Posts: 35 |
