LBP2 Morphological Anti-Aliasing broken
Archive: 15 posts
I havent played much since the new Muppet DLC update, but it seems like the Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) is not on the build. Anyone else notice this? | 2012-02-20 13:39:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
Hey, Steve. I wanna quickly say I'm a big fan. You're always pushing the limits of the game! And great graphics, gameplay, etc.! But, if you mean what I think you mean (Dynamic Emitting? Capturing the object through the emitter?) Then yeah. This was broken by Patch 1.10/The Muppets Pack Patch. So yeah. People have been in a stink since it happened. googled it. still not quite sure what you mean :x but if they added a feature to make edges look smoother i don't think many people would notice, the game already looks pretty smooth. | 2012-02-20 14:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
I noticed it, and I wish they would add it, but I can only think of a couple of places where it would be TRUELY noticeable in create mode. It would make the game look really slick though... Im suprised they havn't added MLAA yet since they confirmed it would be added when they announced LBP2. | 2012-02-20 14:42:00 Author: nk827 Posts: 193 |
Well, i didnt noticed and i am quite sure [dont take this seriously] neither flyinhawaiian and possiblly Kinetik07 did. Still have my doubts about nk827 [/dont take this seriously]. : D | 2012-02-20 15:57:00 Author: zupaton Posts: 167 |
I never noticed anything since the last update, likely because I use a standard definition television. I wish they would accidentally break the ambient occlusion. Or at least let us have a slider or something in create to turn it off when we want... | 2012-02-20 16:27:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Just checked the beta version and it has just the same amount of aliasing. I thought MLAA was the equivalent of 16xaa. | 2012-02-20 21:22:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
Ok I just want to know one thing. What the hell are we talking about here? Morphological Anti-Aliasing? | 2012-02-20 21:42:00 Author: The_Lil_JoKeR Posts: 745 |
Ok I just want to know one thing. What the hell are we talking about here? Morphological Anti-Aliasing? I'm fairly sure it's the thingy that makes edges of things in games smoother, rather than pixelated. It makes it harder to see pixels. | 2012-02-20 21:54:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I'm fairly sure it's the thingy that makes edges of things in games smoother, rather than pixelated. It makes it harder to see pixels. Wait that's broken? but the game's graphics looks the same as it ever has to me.... hmm... guess i just did not notice. *mew | 2012-02-20 21:57:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Yup... Edge smoothing. For instance, if you're drawing a circle and you can see the jagged edges - anti- aliasing makes them look smoother. I haven't noticed a difference.... But I wasnt paying attention. | 2012-02-20 21:59:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Ok I just want to know one thing. What the hell are we talking about here? Morphological Anti-Aliasing? It's a type of Anti-Aliasing, it smooths the look of edges in games, also know as jaggies. I heard MLAA is a cheap solution of achieving a high level of AA (hence lbp2s smooth look) but it's not perfect and sometimes leaves jaggies to be seen under certain circumstances. | 2012-02-20 22:04:00 Author: PPp_Killer Posts: 449 |
Objects havent looked as smooth lately, I have noticed it in hearts. | 2012-02-22 05:45:00 Author: L-I-M-I Posts: 611 |
Can the PS3 even handle 16x AA? | 2012-02-22 14:52:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
Can the PS3 even handle 16x AA? No :> Most PS3, RSX GPU not handle Anti-Alising veri much, Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) is trick that uses power of Cell, developed by God of War 3 devs and this tech was shered to many other PS3 exclusives.... and most notebly muliplatform game Saboture in which made beaten up 350 hardware antialising (360 can handle AA much easier then PS3) : http://images.eurogamer.net/assets/articles//a/8/6/7/8/5/1/Saboteur_Aliasing_001.jpg.jpg Here full articule about it: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-saboteur-aa-blog-entry | 2012-02-22 15:46:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
