online levels on release day?
Archive: 43 posts
I know when I get LBP on release day I will want to play it before making levels. Is anybody planning to make and release an online level the first day it comes out because I know if your more interested in playing it right away like me we wont have online levels for a couple of days.... | 2008-08-14 21:08:00 Author: dannydde Posts: 11 |
Nah, I'd much rather enjoy myself the first day than stress out and make a level. Plus, I don't think great levels are going to be released that day, mainly because people are just barely getting a handle on all of the features. | 2008-08-14 21:11:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

You'll need to play the first few levels anyhow. I plan to do the creator mode quickly, get all the items, make a few levels & items, get them out soon & hopefully I'll get a good rep early on. | 2008-08-14 21:11:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
The more you play on the pre-made levels, the more items you are going to get so I probably play the pre-made levels before I make a level just so I could create better levels : | 2008-08-14 21:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
im ganna play through most of the main game before i even try makeing stuff... i want to unlock the materials and such before i make a level without the correct items to make it... i want to unlock every asap. im sure there will be a guide tellign you where everything is in the game (what level, where, and how many people needed) i go thte game for the create, but i need to play it first. | 2008-08-14 21:29:00 Author: 12454522412412 Posts: 779 |
Oh, I was unaware that by playing through the game you get more items to make levels with.. pretty sweet. | 2008-08-14 21:29:00 Author: dannydde Posts: 11 |
Oh, I was unaware that by playing through the game you get more items to make levels with.. pretty sweet. It depends what path you choose. After the first few levels, there's an option to take the creator path, which allows you to unlock items used in the Create side of things, or the Story path, which follows the Storyline. They both have exactly the same levels and everything. | 2008-08-14 21:31:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
They will probably keep some of the Beta-made levels on the servers, so there will be a few good levels online on Day 1! But make sure you do get to grips with the tools first, don't rush to have a finished level on day one because it will end up not being fun, and nobody wants to play a level thats been rushed. Take your time and get used to the concept of making levels/ playing leves etc. | 2008-08-14 21:33:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |

Art takes time... any levels built on the first day won't be that good. :/ | 2008-08-14 21:39:00 Author: Code1337 Posts: 3476 |
Ohhhhh, and of course once I complete the game going down one path I can replay it and take the other path right? I'd guess so lol. Well, I'll say yes 'cause I'm 1000000000% sure. | 2008-08-14 21:44:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
For me, I would play the story for a little while make some levels and contraptions, play some more, unlock some stuff, and make more levels | 2008-08-14 22:09:00 Author: Koba0100 Posts: 10 |
like everybody said, a well polished level with very good gameplay will take days, to weeks to make becuase quality takes time... you could whip together a level on day one...but it would suck... trust me, unless it's an mm or a sony release, andy levels availlable day one, WILL stink! | 2008-08-14 22:14:00 Author: big93 Posts: 262 |
Can I use the phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day". That's so corny, I'm sorry. | 2008-08-14 22:30:00 Author: marmiteman Posts: 124 |
Can I use the phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day". That's so corny, I'm sorry. It's corny, but it's true. D: Someone should make a level modeled after Rome, then we could use that term quite literally. | 2008-08-14 23:18:00 Author: Code1337 Posts: 3476 |
I can't imagine what's going to be on the servers day one, besides the beta stuff. That might be kind of scary. | 2008-08-17 12:07:00 Author: docpac Posts: 601 |
Personally, I'd much rather play through the game. I'm not that serious of a creator, though I will try my hand at a few levels, so playing is much more important to me. | 2008-08-17 12:26:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |

the play side is going to be so awesome but if you play through story mode don't you get the creation tools? | 2008-08-17 14:40:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
You're about the first person I've ever heard say that. I know, I'm in the minority. I'll probably finish a level about every 6 weeks. It'll be more of a sandbox than a real effort to make great levels. Although I will work hard on the collabs. | 2008-08-17 15:27:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
I think the first day most people will just play a few levels and really just have fun with the create aspect seeing the limitations and working out whats possible. I really think we won't be seeing absolutely amazing user created levels for a couple of weeks after release. | 2008-08-17 20:23:00 Author: LittleBigChav Posts: 175 |

They say creating a very good level can take over a weekend. | 2008-08-17 20:29:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |

Well, as i said before in another thread don't rush them just to be the 'FIRST!!!!', how about take your time and be the best? | 2008-08-17 21:26:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
I always play through the main game before doing creators or online. | 2008-08-17 23:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
for some reason most of my ideas are minigames and a few levls and i can picture them perfectly in my head and change any way i want, and i can remember them perfectly, its a lot more convenient than changing your blueprints too oh and i bet there will be great mini games before great levels too *cough*IM GONNA MAKE A SWEET MINIGAME*cough* | 2008-08-17 23:18:00 Author: Gondito Posts: 1082 |
Yeah, most of the first real enjoyable games will be minigames. | 2008-08-17 23:24:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
I'm just gonna play my **** off to get all the create tools and if I need help where you need 2-4 players to get some of the items/tools then I'm sure there will be people on here that I'll message to jump into a game together. I would hate to be build one of my masterpieces (modest NOT!!!! lol) only to not be able to do something i know is easily possible with a tool/object I haven't got yet. Then it will be all about Create mostly until some exciting and cleaver things start to appear online. | 2008-08-17 23:34:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
I'd very much recommend playing through the game for a while before getting stuck into Create. Firstly, because you'll have more to play with when you get in, but more importantly because you'll already have some good ideas on how things work and exactly what you can accomplish. For those of you who'd rather get your hands dirty quickly, you can jump into Create straight away and unlock all the tools by working through the tutorials. | 2008-08-18 15:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'll play through all of the official levels before attempting to create anything myself, and I doubt there will be any good levels online on the release date. | 2008-08-18 17:47:00 Author: StrikerBack Posts: 103 |
lol...we are going to see a whole lot of skateboard levels day 1... | 2008-08-18 17:57:00 Author: Noonian Posts: 523 |

soooo true lol I bet all of those skarteboard levels will be crazy fun though. | 2008-08-19 06:19:00 Author: docpac Posts: 601 |
I bet all of those skarteboard levels will be crazy fun though. Yeah, I have an idea for a skateboard level, which will be short AND fun. | 2008-08-19 06:20:00 Author: StrikerBack Posts: 103 |
Yeah, I have an idea for a skateboard level, which will be short AND fun. King of the Skateboard?? if not, that would still be cool. Place skateboard on top of a bunch of electrified planks... push your buddies off. | 2008-08-19 08:44:00 Author: docpac Posts: 601 |
can you play campaign online | 2008-08-19 09:15:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
can you play campaign online In the Sam Q&A Docpac just posted it's confirmed that all the campaign levels can be played Co-op. If your mate grabs items that you don't have already they will also be added to your items list | 2008-08-19 13:45:00 Author: Robinhood Posts: 79 |
Sam... If I choose to play through the Create first, would that spoil the actual single player? Or are both Creator and Player paths following the same storyline? Also, what are the tutorials like? I don't think I've seen any videos on tutorials :/ | 2008-08-23 15:10:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |
you can play through the create end first but you unlock more stuff to use in create mode after yo play even a little of the single or multi player so go for that first | 2008-08-23 16:13:00 Author: Frank-the-Bunny Posts: 1246 |
Well, as i said before in another thread don't rush them just to be the 'FIRST!!!!', how about take your time and be the best? I will be, but I am still creating it before playing single player. | 2008-08-23 17:37:00 Author: Unknown User |
I wonder if there'll be a few bonus dev-made online levesl that didn't make the game on launch. It'd be good to help us learn how to DL levels. | 2008-08-24 02:32:00 Author: Dropbear Posts: 272 |
I think downloading levels should be pretty intuitive. There will likely be a big download button, in which case I don't think anyone will need much of a tutorial. | 2008-08-24 03:06:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
