What's your favourite type?

Hello Guys and Girls, :star:

I am recently in the process of making a new platformer level and have hit a bit of a brick wall. Because people these days have moved away from the all enjoyable detailed platformer I am stumped on what theme I should use to try and bring the genre back a little bit. Should it be in a forest? A warehouse? Sweet shop? Factory? Woodland? Wooden area that's not a forest?

What are your favourite platform themes to play? Suggestions are much appreciated underneath

I like making stuff out of wood like these themes: Da Vinci's Hideout, the Canyons, the Islands. I also like Victoria's laboratory.2012-02-20 17:06:00

All good ideas. My favourite three have always been Forest/Nature, Space and Canyon . Industry is good, but I find that it is one of the hardest kinds of levels to start as everything in LittleBigPlanet starts off very clean and pristine and it takes alot of stickering and decorating before it looks industrialy worn 2012-02-21 09:04:00

You could try a cake factory or have a level set in a laboratory where a crazy inventor works lol.

I find that the theme isn't so important, as long as there is some cool gameplay to do in the level, im happy with that.

There was a level called something like Blonde Bombshell Survival that was exactly that, but it got moderated.

Ha, I have the opposite problem! Making things look grungy is easy, but clean is a very difficult look for me to pull off.

I'd have to say my favorite theme would be forest/nature too, but Snooth, please keep in mind that as long as your gameplay is fantastic, the theme itself won't matter too much. Although, I'll say a theme can indeed be a great way to get the creative gears turning!

Worlds apart then lol. Yes, I must be honest, I really like doing jungle and forest because the scenery is easy as everything looks a little weathered. I agree that the theme is not that important but I find that having a theme helps you continue with a set idea of matching gameplay because lets face it, a hovering platform in the middle of the forest doesn't really work unless you are making a level about something strange in the forest lol '
