My current project is recreating a few scenes of Raiders of the Lost Ark into LBP. Lucky me, I managed to make it my final project in my film class. Unlucky me, I am on a deadline. So I have this point in my level where player one and player 2 need to move and speak. The 2 options I know of and why I don't want to use them. 1. In cut scene, sackbots that move and talk just how I want them. Bad: When the cut scene is over, they players are in their original spots and not when the cut scene ended them in. 2. Players do the moving and just use some magic mouth to do the talking. Bad: The players mouths don't move; I know this seems stupid, but I need their mouths to move when they are talking. It doesn't really matter to me which of the options is used (or some third option) but I need to have moving and talking that results in the players ending where they should. When the cut scene is over, they players are in their original spots and not when the cut scene ended them in. Why not copy+paste the set, put the entry checkpoint in the same spot as the Sackbots in the actual landscape so that you watch the cutscene and then spawn in a separate, identical landscape? Or you could put a controlinator on a block of hologram, make it follow the Sackbot, and while the camera shows something else, make the controlinator eject and destroy itself and the Sackbot. Just to make sure, what you want to do: There are two players (player controlled), that need to act in a cut scene (as sackbots) and after that, control is given back to the players? If you don't want to use a copy of your scenerie as Kaboosh99 suggested, go for the deathless teleporter solution of CYMBOL. You could teleport the players out of sight into a hidden space, emit the sackbots and let them do the acting, then destroy the sackbots and use another teleporter to replace them by the players. You'd need to do have a few seconds to "cover up" the teleporting, for example by showing something else (no camera on players/sackbots) or fading to black.. Or you could clone part of the scenerie (if you have enough free thermo) and do the acting there, while teleporting the players to the ending position of the sackbots, while they are not in the focus of the camera. | 2012-02-14 08:59:00 Author: Unknown User |

To make the mouth move use a mic on a magic mouth or use a selector that goes rapidly through the sackbot emotions so make it look like the mouth moving. To make the players go to where the sackbot are after the cutscene, if the level is just a movie why not put the players in controlinators and follow the sackbots? | 2012-02-15 14:24:00 Author: Rokusho Posts: 45 |
Also, for the Sackbot talking, you can give the Sackbot an actor name, then on the Sackbot's magic mouths, under "Actor Name", match it up with the Sackbot who needs to be talking. | 2012-02-15 15:26:00 Author: flyinhawaiian Posts: 357 |
