Stickers disappearing?

Archive: 9 posts

I have a huge piece of holo that I'm trying to paint black, but for some reason there is always a strip on the right that I just can't paint. Is this a common problem? Hopefully there's an easy fix.2012-02-14 04:24:00

Yes, sometimes it is to do with the size of your piece, however if it is a straight line down then it may be your connection. But if you want black Hologram, can't you just make the colour black and reduce the brightness? Either way, make the sticker much larger than the piece, and then enlarge to piece slowly whilst picking the previous sticker up (to reduce sticker usage and thermo) and putting it back down. So, just increase the sticker as you increase the piece. Also, sometimes you see the line that's not painted in create but not in Play mode, this again is a connection or angle based problem2012-02-14 12:51:00

Hm sounds like it could be a number of issues, then. First I'll check it out in play mode, but if it still shows that white line, then I think the holo might just be too big. Anyway, thanks for the tips!2012-02-15 04:51:00

I still can't figure this out. I feel like it shouldn't be a size issue because I've never seen or heard of such a problem before. Not with other peoples' levels or my own. And the line is still visible in play mode. Here's pictures to clarify:

This one is just to brighten up the borders and show exactly what I'm working with (minus the black sticker, of course). As you can see, it's not only the sticker that is getting cut-off. Some of the holo is getting cut, too (in the top right corner). I'm in the second picture to give a sense of scale.

I know what you're talking about, I've had this problem before. As far as I know, there isn't a solution... I think this is more of a glitch than anything.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I'd like to see more responses as I have this problem quite frequently actually.

Yes, it is some kind of glitch. It annoys the heck outta me. I don't know if you can do anything about it, maybe the hologram pieces are overlapping? Sometimes that makes hologram visible. Sometimes stickers don't show up at all when I place them. Undo-ing usually fixes it. I've had a similar problem in many of my levels with large items that have big stickers. Sometimes it depends on the camera angle. Hope it helps.2012-02-18 21:39:00

I'm pretty sure this is referred to as "The Sticker Glitch" (Dun Dun Dunnn) .. Anyways, the sticker glitch is when there is too many/too big of a sticker in a level.. And, sadly, there is no way around it other than deleting the stickers... I'm not trying to advertise anything, but, in my level "Paint- The Drawing Level" there is a lot of stickers that are emitted. If you play the level and use all of the "ink", all of the stickers (and holograms) go all funky. I don't have a picture, but, there is a picture frame with my signature in it that has a sticker on hologram. When the sticker glitch happens, part of the sticker gets cut off, and a strip of hologram can be seen. Originally, the hologram is invisible. But, the strip seen is bright and red.. It is really weird and I had no way around it. So I had to warn people in the description of the level. It really sucks and I hope MM can fix it. I'm sure there is someone out there who has a few shortcuts around it. (If there is, can you let me know? XD)

I have one suggestion, have you tried corner cutting around the cloud? This might reduce the amount of sticker shown, which may hopefully reduce the sticker glitch effect. I'm not sure if it will work, but its worth a try, right? Good Luck!

If you're using a lot of large stickers in your level, it often helps to scale the objects down first, place the stickers while the objects are smallish and you don't need to expand the stickers too large, and then scale the objects up to size again once the stickers are placed. It's not 100% guaranteed to work, but in my experience I've generally found that it can make a significant difference.2012-02-20 08:02:00

How about, and this is 100% untested and too simple to work but could you not slice and dice the end off? then delete it?2012-02-21 13:59:00
