LBP Vita dilemma

Archive: 6 posts

I will definitely get Vita, but I have a great dilemma about buying Vita LBP. I simply don't know if it is worth it. I mean. Will it really be close to LBP2 standards (I don't really need all those new features since I can do almost everything I want in LBP2) ? How many people will buy it and play it? Woudn?t be better to put all the energy and time to LBP2, than to its little Vita brother? The biggest reason for me to buy Vita is remote play feature (I?m not planning to make levels on bus, or train since I need a calm for that). Because I have only one TV and my girl doesn?t share my passion about LBP ( at least no 6 hours per day as I do :-D ). So I?ll be happy playing LBP2 in my bed via remote play...so what do you think about it? Buy or not to buy?2012-02-13 11:26:00

When I read the title I thought the real problem would be wanting to have LBP Vita but not a Vita console. In this case I don't see what's the big deal. According to those who went to the Game Jam there are exciting new tools that people would love to see included in LBP, and not only the touch screen/pad stuff. And I don't doubt it will succeed community-wise. Of all the franchises from the PS3 they are shoehorning into the Vita (Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Motorstorm) I think LBP is the one that really fits into the kind of arcade feel that every handheld console should have.

If you're unsure about buying it, wait for the reviews and feedback from the community. You're sure you want to get a PS Vita even if you're not interested in LBPV so it's not like you're buying a console just because of one game.

Because of the touchscreen interface, the Vita version does stuff that you could never do with your PS3. If you're not into "smartphone app" style play or creating that kind of thing for others to play, then the touchscreen aspect might not appeal quite so much to you, but it can still be used inventively in traditional platforming gameplay. Also the memoriser tool allows you to transfer data across levels and to be able to create "save points" within levels so that you can come back later and pick up where you left off. That's just not possible with the PS3 version. In terms of the creation tools, it does everything LBP2 can do and much, much more. If you're worried about quality of graphics, the Vita version is so close that you'll barely notice any difference.

Of course the Vita doesn't have the same processing power as a PS3, so it does have some limitations such as lighting for example, but it compensates for this with it's superior interface capabilities and huge array of new features.

To buy or not to buy? That's up to you. I will definitely be buying.

I would like to give you a more elaborate answer, but I have to run to work. I'll put it this way.
Buy LBP Vita.

This comes from someone who has played it and attended at the game jam, to which Ungreth also attended, so both of us know what we are talking about.

As a fan that know your levels i say stick with LBP2 with your current series since they won't benefit much from Vita stuff and use Vita if you really have idea on different level that benefits touchscreens or portability 2012-02-13 15:27:00

I figure it's worth getting just to play the story levels (and occasional community levels). I'm not sure how much I'll like creating on a small screen compared to my 50" tv either, it's still a must buy and I will create at least 1 level for LBP Vita.2012-02-13 15:34:00
