Need some TV buying advice please :)

Archive: 16 posts

Basically, i'm looking to buy a 20" or 22" inch HD TV with great picture quality at around ?250 - ?300.

At the moment, i'm most inclined to buy this:
Sony KDL-20S3000 - 20" Widescreen Bravia HD Ready LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

The 20" is quite ugly though (the pic is of the 40", don't let it fool you)
And i've been put off a little by the high price.
I also saw this a minute ago but am way too suspicious...
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/8229016/LG-22-M228WDP-HD-Ready-Freeview-Widescreen-LCD-TV/Product.html#

If you guys know of any great HD TV's at great price do give us a few suggestions
And remember i'm in the UK guys
Cheers!

Sony Bravia V series.

I got my 40" a few days ago for ?550 so a smaller one might be in your price range.

I have Samsung and it the States. It's the top Competitor when it comes down to HD Tv's...

Wait, are you going for 1080?

General rule of thumb with HDTV's, if you want a certain size, ALWAYS go for the next size up...

I.E. You want 42 inches, get 46 inches, because you will always have wanted to go bigger.

...must not make immature joke...

Right. Ryryryan. I presume this will be a gaming TV. If yes. Get a Samsung LCD. I've had 3 of differing sizes, they've all been great, they all still work, and whilst they are on the more pricey side, the quality simply can't be beaten, especially under 32". After that if you decide to go bigger, it's pretty much a straight run between the Sony and the Sammy, but personally, I'd pick a Samsung every time.

OMG I didn't even think about it like that until you said that! lol XD

I don't know much about TV's, but I've got an Aquos if anybody's ever heard of it, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's 32", and I paid $700 for it (that's USD).

Im confused in PAL regions do you guys have HD TV like 1080p because when i saw the specs it has a weird resolution.

That resolution will still allow HD (720 lines) but not full HD, 1080 lines. In the PAL region we can get 1080p, but there aren't many mediums that support it. Off the top of my head, there's Blu-Ray disks, a few PS3 and 360 games that are native 1080 not just upscaled, there's SKY HD, though I'm not 100% sure if that's 1080 or 720, some freeview services, and of course, running your PC through your TV.

Oh, yea, and on a screen that size, you're unlikely to be able to tell much of a difference between "full" HD and regular HD. I'd say go for it.
