VM Troubles with fairly new members??

Archive: 6 posts

Hope there isn't an existing Thread, I searched around and couldn't find one. Sorry if there is another post about this!!

Recently when I'd welcome a new member or say happy birthday to a member, I'd sometimes see that they've replied to other Visitor Messages on their own page. And for members that leave quite a lot of VM's a day, I think it'd be easy for it to slip their mind to go and check on a reply. So the original poster may never get a reply and take it the wrong way and think they're being ignored or just not get needed information.
So I was thinking of an idea to help prevent the problem. Maybe ask Aya if he thinks it'd be a good idea to put it in his "New Here??" Thread since members introduce others with that link in the post, so the majority of members would read that so it'd maybe help cut down on the problem. (Not to seem like an assumption to change it to Aya of course, a suggestion only).
I had the same problem when I first joined too actually, I replied on my own page not knowing. So I try to let others know if I've seen that they replied on their own page.

Thanks for reading my suggestion!!

You did that too? xD
You're right about putting it in the new here thread/Text/Wutever.
But I was wondering ... How comes that some members can't VM? Like Matthias100 and TheNerd?

It would be super-fancy if we could have small icons near unvisited features, and when you access it for the first time you see a text box explaining how it works.

But I bet that vBulletin can't do that or it would be too hard to implement or anything else...

Haha, yes I did.. xD
I'm not sure really, haha. They may have their profile on a setting that prevents the VM page from showing maybe??..

Yeah, that would be super-fancy indeed..

But as you said, not sure if it'd work right.

(Thanks for the approval guys!!).

It's kind of a "right of passage" around here. Replying to yourself. I still do it from time to time myself.2012-02-11 13:39:00
