Grand Chase: Craft (Title Pending)

I have yet to publish a level, mostly due to myself losing interest at some point. Well, not anymore! I finally thought up a project I can stick to: One based on the action-platforming MMORPG, Grand Chase.

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, which is likely most of you, the controls are mostly simple. You use the Z key to attack monsters, and move with the arrow keys. As you successfully attack monsters, you gain MP, up to a maximum of three. To use it, you hold down Z and release it while on the ground for special attacks. There are other specifics, as the game has 14 characters, most with 4 jobs, and every one of them plays differently.

You'd be able to find game play videos on Youtube pretty easily, if you want to see it for yourself without downloading the game.

Here's what I plan to make:
A couple of the characters, though only one job each. I've been thinking 6, but thermo could be a problem, even with the many ways to get around it. MP skills and as many of their original move set as possible for all of them.

I'm going to just make my own dungeons, instead of trying to remake any featured in the game. This will include multiple enemies, bosses, and platforming stages. I may make multiple dungeons after I get the first working and debugged.

An initial stage for character selection, the tutorial, and practice. I want to give people a chance to find the character they want to play as, and learn how to play, obviously.

I want to make this multiplayer, but I'm not that good at such things and I think the logic could get rather complicated. And if it does get made multiplayer, then a VS mode might not be too hard to make.

Also, I wouldn't mind a story done via cinematics, but I'm still unsure if I really want too much. I know it's always a plus, but for now I want to just get it playable.


I've been working on the logic behind this for a while now, and ideas still keep coming. But, I'll also admit I don't think I can do this in its entirety all on my own, as logic is my only strong suit. That brings me here, looking for anyone interested in helping.

Music
Environment Decorating and Design
Another person good with logic.

i just wanna ask/tell some things ^^:

1- when you say " as many of their original move set as possible for all of them ", do you plan to use sackbots? if yes, i'll just tell you (i'm sure you're already aware but...) sackbots don't allow specific movement, so it'll be hard for you.

2- it's not hard to do a multi-player game, just make your characters able to fight each others (for the pvp) and use some cameras (+ put your level in versus mode, not co-op) for the "all-in-one screen" problem

3- it's ,for some persons, really hard to stay on the same project because they are easily influenced and change their mind (it happened to me a lot of time; starting with an platform game, then a mech/shooting game, then an RPG etc...)
i hope for you that it won't happen

For #1, I mean attacks and what not. This includes dashing, double jumps, air dashes, and the attacks to go with them. Also, a number of characters have little extras to go along with them. I am using Sackbots, but I don't think it's anything too complicated. I'm just afraid I'm going to forget to add something the character has in the actual game. I don't think there would be too much I couldn't do in LBP2.

For #2, it's mostly a thermo restraint. Just one character that isn't even close to finished so far is taking up a lot of it, and I'm just concerned on that part.

#3... Yeah. ADHD doesn't help, either. Or getting all my ideas when I'm not near my PS3. Or playing other games.

Yeah. Basically means I'm easily distracted and have a terrible short-term memory. It's short for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It's not that bad for me, but it means I don't sit and do one thing for very long.

And on topic: I've now thought of how to get the dashing and what not working. But I can't turn on my PS3 without waking someone up...
