Failed to connect to players D:

Archive: 7 posts

Well, this problem has always been kind of in the background for me. When I first started playing LBP in March, I noticed this problem often. It went away completely until yesterday.
Basically it effects online play with other people. I'll try to join one of my friends, and it will either go all white with a whoosh sound then put an error message labeled "failed to connect to players" or it will Send the error message right away, pause for a moment then the screen will fade to white. I am simply ejected to my pod and it doesn't cause too much hassle, but it makes it impossible to join that particular friend for an unknown time. Is there prevention for this? Is this a symptom for something worse? AHH! xD

I run into this a bunch of times (but the times are far apart). If this happens, then go do something else in LBP2 for a bit. Whether it's creating, playing levels, just do anything for I'd say, about 10-15 minutes. After the time has passed, try to join some players again, it should work.2012-02-08 02:38:00

I've got this problem a lot of times when connecting with other players. I guess that, in my case, it's because my connection sucks - 2MB download 300kB upload, which is pretty bad 2012-02-08 19:10:00

That's a huge relief!
Now I know how to join a friend under these circumstances. Thanks LBPC!

What I usually do when this happens, is I log In and Out of PSN. ( Ican't remember the exact wording, but I think it goes like this: Go to the XMB and press Triangle when highlighting Account, and select Log Out)
If I'm trying to connect to one of my "close" PSN friends, I probably ask them to do the same. In my experience, this fixes the issue in 95% of the cases, and the procedure takes less than a minute ^^

I had a problem like this today.. It couldn't have been my internet, the network connection test said that there was something wrong with PSN.. But the people I was trying to join had no problems.. When I joined them, it still let me stay with them, but there was a 5 or 6 second lag! There was even a 3 second lag to open my popit! The lag was so bad I had to ask the "Party Leader" to kick me because the game wouldn't let me pause and select "return to pod"... So what I did was turn off my PS3, and turn it back on.. I tried again and it was the same. I kept retrying and it slowly got better and better. Eventually it stopped altogether and I was able to join them with no lag.. Later I found out that the reason the internet was so "laggy" was because my dad was downloading something onto his iPad causing less bandwidth for the PS3 to use, which I believe was not enough bandwidth to be able to connect through PSN.. Maybe this was your problem? Was someone using the internet when you were trying to connect? If not then someone using your friends internet could have caused the problem. I'm just throwing this out there because I know this happens to a lot of people and they start freaking out XD.2012-02-12 03:59:00
