A couple of Q's about DCS and Sackbots

Archive: 2 posts

Theae are 2 unrelated questions.

1. How do you make it so that you can start a multiplayer level (vs) where each player drops in to their own DCS? I know how to setup the DCS as far as remote control and transmitter vs receiver etc., but how do you physically set the multiple DCS's so that the players enter them and then the level starts and the players don't actually know they've been out into a DCS?

2. I know how to record sackbot acting. I know that you use a separate brain chip for each acting 'session' and then connect them to batteries that are fired using a Sequencer. My problem is that even though I have it set to just play 1 time, it's not consistent. It might play the first time, but then the sackbot might just keep repeating the acting or not start at the the beginning the next time the sequence is run. Am I doing this wrong? Are chips connected to batteries on a Sequencer not the proper method ?

Thanks in advance!

For number one, I don't have any experience with making multiplayer levels, but I'll try anyway. I would suggest making it so the DCS are lined up in order near the entrance. As players enter the level, they will enter the closest one that hasn't been taken. You have have to be sure that they all have a trigger radius big enough to reach the entrance.

If you want to be stealthy about the DCS, put material Tweakers on them, and go down to the Physics Sounds option and turn it off. And if you want to avoid any visuals, you set your default lighting to no lightness, maximum darkness, and have a global lighting teaker be activated when the players enter, with a transition time of a couple seconds. Have the tweaker set to the lighting you actually want.

For the second question, I think a Selector would be a good idea. Have the Sequencer batteries do into the override inputs of the Selector, which has its outputs go to the behavior chips. I don't work with behavior chip acting, so I can only give you what I think could work.
