Player Sackbot Help

Archive: 2 posts

I have a Sackbot in the making, controlled by the player using a hologram follower and transmitter (the way shown in comphermc's LBP2torials). For the most part, I want it to have all the controls of a normal Sackboy. However, one thing that I want it to do is be able to float midjump Rayman Origins style; after the Sackbot jumps, the player would hold down X and the Sackbot's fall would slow down. When this action occurs, I also want the Sackbot's arms to flap like a bird.

What logic would I have to put together to achieve all this?

For the slow fall, you'll want to have an "In The Air" logic chip. This is a Counter of 1, with X as its input. An Impact Sensor gets hooked up to the Reset. Output this to anything that requires you to have jumped. Wire that and X into an AND gate. That AND will be going to an Anti-gravity Tweaker with some Dampening. The amount of Dampening depends on how slow you want the fall. I'm not entirely sure if this would work, so I'll try it out in a bit and tell you if anything would have to change.

EDIT: Okay, tested this, and it doesn't quite work. Just adjust the Anti-grav Tweaker to not be 100% anti gravity, and a little bit of dampening. You'll have to adjust both settings to get the speed you want. You may also want to change how the anti gravity is activated a little to fit the control scheme you want.

For the flapping arms, you'll have a Sequencer set up. Set it to loop, and input action would be Power On or whatever its labeled as. On that Sequencer, put some batteries, and a Controllinator set to override Sackbot Controls. The batteries should be set up something like this: One battery spanning the length of the sequencer, and one or two others set at points in the Seq. These are going to wire into that Controllinator. On the Controllinator, have some Directional Combiners wired into the Left and Right Sticks (You'll likely want to make sure they go to the Up/Down Input on them.), and the large battery goes into L2 and R2. Use the smaller batteries to power the Sticks, and there you go. You can make the Sackbot's arms move via logic without any behavior chips. Also gives you some pretty good control over how they move. Just adjust the batteries to make the arms move the way you want.
