Top Down Help

Archive: 10 posts

I just had a few questions on my new level. So it's top down and everything works fine, but two things:

1. The Sackbot flies through ways. I know it does this due to the fact it is on hologram, but is there any other way to prevent this than surround the Sackbot with invisible dark matter?

2. The Sackbot when it jumps, it lands only on the middle layer. I.E., the In-out-mover set to move to back will only move to middle.

Any ideas?

1. I think there's a method involving impact sensors with tag inputs in them... I don't know how it works exactly.

2. I can't really say since I don't see any of the sackbot/seat logic. Try checking all the circuitry and stuff...

(...not really my most shining help moment...)

I'm working on a top down level so I can help you out a bit.

1. I used this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TcyNkqxMAA
The video is for a cursor, but it applies to a sackbot on a controlinator as well. Also note that the walls do not have to be hologram material like they are in the video. As long as you add tags you should be set.

2. Do you have the sackbot on a thin layer or a thick layer? If its on a thick layer, try changing it to a thin layer. If its on a thin layer and its only landing in the middle layer, then I don't know what could be causing it.

THe video looks helpful, and it is on a thin layer of hologram.

1 There is a material glitch that makes material invisible out there. I dont know how to do it myself though i have it from someone else. If you look ing the search option you should find a level that gives it as a prize. Otherwise yeah the tag and sensor method is fine.

2 Set the mover to always push backwards and a timer set to 1 sec that resets itself constantly. You will need to have it in a seperate chip though so that you can turn it off when you jump.

You can find a thread describing this topic right here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=17759-Creating-Editable-Invisible-Material-In-Seconds)!

The glitch has existed since the original LBP1, and is still one of the easiest ways of creating big chunks of invisible material

1. You can use a very small (not invisible) thick piece of material (I use glass) and attach it to a thin layer of hollo and hide it in the sack bot in the chair. This limits you to only two thick layers for your level though.

2. Have pulse emitter set to always go to the back layer (Except when jumping/climbing).

This does not allow you to move in a controlenator though...

Uh its what i use in my top down levels at the moment and works well. You will need gravity tweakers though. Its better than dark matter shrunk to make a border and uses less thermo as well.
Also what MrNlCE suggested works as well. Its what i used to do and no one ever really noticed.

I used an anti-gravity tweaker and it didn't work. What setting did you have it at?
