Selection Logic Help
Archive: 6 posts
I am working on some logic pieces but I can't seem to get what I want in this particular piece: http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/68a10c7db52ff5082fe633ed421816495b74e9eb.jpg I have tried using an And Gate and a direction combiner but no matter what-the selector only scrolls from left to right and right to left but never up and down (until it reaches the top right square, from there the selector goes down to the bottom left square). How would I be able to allow up, down, left and right movement for scrolling? | 2012-01-31 18:19:00 Author: Darkcloudrepeat Posts: 606 |
Edit* I've sent a friend request over incase you need the help or don't understand my explanation. You need to think of the 6 sqaures as grids. For example 2 x 3. You would then need a selector with 2 outputs and one with 3 for the 2 x 3 grid. You need direction combiners, one of each for both selectors, a total of 4 (2 of each). This is for the up and down movement and the left and right movement. You then need 6 AND gates, three for the bottom and three for the top. You then place one of the outputs from the selector with 2 into 3 of the AND gates, then the other output into the other three. It's best at this point to seperate both of the 2 sets of AND gates from each other, 3 and 3. Then, from the selector with 3 ports, connect the first output into two of the AND gates, one from each side, and do the same for two and three. Then the AND gates connect to the hologram. It sounds more complex than it is. I've made a prototype to make sure it works if you need it, and like i stated above, i sent a request over incase you need it! Hope this helps! | 2012-01-31 19:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'd be inclined use two selectors, one for horizontal (columns) and one for vertical (rows). Then you can just use the two stick axes to set these selectors independently for left/right and up/down. | 2012-01-31 19:13:00 Author: Dr C Posts: 122 |
I doubt this warrants a Friend Req and a personal visit. All you need is two Selectors. One for your Rows, and another for your Columns, plus some AND Gates. Row Selector Output 1 needs to be put into all 3 AND Gate inputs along it's respective row, just as Colomn Selector Output 1 goes into it's own respective AND Gates. It seems a little weird at first having each Selector output wired into multiple inputs, but due to each option requiring both Selectors input, you'll still have a one-option only system. http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/4a8bceb0fd93a5fcbefc88615cfe6112211cca3c.jpg For clarity, here's a pic. Finally, you'd put your Left/Right and Up/Down inputs into the correct Selectors and you're done. EDIT- Blast you Dr C! | 2012-01-31 19:15:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |
Thanks Dr C and Ostler. The picture helped a bunch! | 2012-01-31 19:22:00 Author: Darkcloudrepeat Posts: 606 |
Sorry Ostler. If it's any consolation, your post was much nicer than mine with the pic and all. | 2012-01-31 19:22:00 Author: Dr C Posts: 122 |
