Attract-O-Tweaker made more glowy!

Archive: 14 posts

Hello people of the Realms! Recently Mm decied to release a muppets pack the contains the very interesting Atract-o-gel.

It has a very nice glow feature and with the Attract-o-Tweaker, any object can have the nice glow effect. So you can use this glow effect for some nice effects such as-

Mist on the floor

or what im using it for! A Donkey Kong warp gate!

Stars, galaxy stuff

magic arua

and anything eles

But what if the glow isn't big enough? or you can't see it? How can you get this glow to be bigger and more see able?
I'll show you how

First get select the Hologram in the materials section.

Make sure the Hologram is thin and any layer will do.

Change the brightness to 0%

Now grab the "Slice and dice" tool and slice it up into as many peies as you want. The More peices you slice up into the bigger and brighter the glow effect will be. Now mine looks like this-

Now grab your "Attract-O-tweaker" and attach to any peice of the hologram, and tweak the "Attract-O-Tweaker" to effect connect peices then set range to "50" and now it should like somthing like this-

Now for people to see the difrence more clearly I show one with no "Slice and dice" done to it.

Now you can bearly see it. I wouldn't say I was disapointed that you couldn't change the the brigntess of it but for those who wish to do so then this is one way.

I found this out because im making a DK level and I wanted to make a warp gate with a nice glow effect and the attract-o-tweak done this for me but it wasn't bright enough but now I have somthing like this.

When I added this it looks more like a warp gate.

Well thats all for now, but if any one has a recording cam would they mind helping do a video of this?

bye bye

Hmm i'll have to test this out. I have been using it for mist and found a few other things to use it for but also noticed that when placed on an emitted object it doesn't always glow that brightly even at 100%. This may solve that. Thanks.2012-01-31 12:46:00

What a beautiful effect. I didn't even think of putting attracto on a thin layer.. but am exited about the tweakable visual properties the new tweaker and material have.

The gel itself also makes great looking water with zero brightness and you can also colour it with stickers and they will still show up without any trouble.2012-01-31 18:13:00

Haha, well, I'm sad to say, I have already done this and a few other things. I guess I should take a page out of Chaos Martin's book, and think to come back here and share. Well done Chaos.

As for sharing fun visuals, I have added it in combination with sticker material set on fire - provides for a more "magical" fire effect.

(Why didn't I think of this...?)

*ahem*

Very nice find. I actually was using a method where I would stack thin layer attract-o-tweaker to make more intense mist, but this version seems to be less straining on the level. I'll have to try this next time I get on LBP...

Thank you for that tip. Sure it'll be useful for the future.

I recently made a similar effect for a warp gate of sorts... Probably can't say more than that at the moment the spotlight crew may break my thumbs.

I'm also using it for my Dlorean's re-entry ice effects...

I also was thinking of trying to add more then 1 layer of Attract-O-Tweaker on holo to make cool effects for my levels before i read this, good job though. this should help people know of some cool ideas they can create with the stuff. *mew ...Also here is a fun fact. making many layers of thin holo attract-o-stuff like this topic shows makes far less lag then using the smoke emitters, and it looks better then smoke emitters too IMO. *mew2012-02-02 14:08:00

Seriously though, this tweaker gives a beautiful effect. I can't wait to put to use in my own levels

This will come in handy when using it as smoke as well because the smoke machine takes up a small amount of the thermometer which is a problem for levels that are going to use this substitute.2012-02-15 15:19:00

As with the new attract-o-gel, it gives off a nice glow effect and can be made more see able when its tweak to "Effct rigid conections" then all things stuck to it will give off a glow. BUT what if, you wanted the nice glow effect but don't want the sackboy being drawn to it?

A idea would be make a thin layer of the object, slice and dice, add attact gel to it, tweak it to "Effact all rigid conection" and then you would think to stick it to the desried object which is thick, but then the thick object would pull sackboy towards it. So don't stick, use a bolt. youl have the thin object with gel with its glow, attached to the thick layer with out the object luring sackboy.
