Greetings

Greetings, creators. Allow me to begin my introduction post, (Aside from the obvious greeting preceding it.), with a tale of woe and enlightenment.

I originally acquired a PlayStation 3 many years ago. At the time, my school-year was essentially comprised of Xbots or Sony fantards in terms of avid gamers, but at some point I had decided to branch out and see what Sony had to offer. I'd played Uncharted and Killzone before, and had enjoyed them, but the first PlayStation title that shone beyond all recognition, was a humble platformer known as LittleBig Planet. I'd heard limited hype relating to the game, and from my own research the title sounded promising. In a matter of days I had set out and purchased LBP, (Along with Killzone, and the PS3 itself, of course.), and I maintain to this day that LBP is one of, if not the most unique and enjoyable experiences I have had the pleasure of indulging in.

I played the game for hours daily, over the course of weeks, collecting everything I possibly could, (LBP is the only game that has made collecting stuff this much fun, or is that just me?), I was never much for creating, but after I'd cleared the campaign and dabbled online, (Where I encountered some truly stellar level design and degrees of imagination I hadn't even fathomed would exist.), I was set to create my own level. My first endeavor was simple enough; somewhat of a generic deathmatch-type mode. I'd created the introductory scene, devised elements of customization, (Music choice, things like that.), and had devised some of the weapons, and after meticulously pouring over every detail, I was almost ready to publish the level and share my creation. However, it was not to be. As I was placing a particularly cool flamethrower-type weapon I'd lovingly named the 'Scorcher', (Yeah, somewhat of a gearhead too.), the moment it made contact with the environment, everything disappeared. My hours and hours of work, analysis and improvements turned to a haze in the blink of an eye, and left a very confused, very annoyed player staring at the screen in despair.

I was not done with LBP, however my creations suffered setback after setback. (It should be noted that by this point in time, I had grown bored of the likes of Killzone and Uncharted, LBP thus being the only thing which anchored me towards my PS3.) After playing a particularly interesting Aliens vs Predators level online, I was inspired to try my hand at it. I created by own Yautja and Xenomorph. They both disappeared. I re-made the Xenomorph, saved it, then booted up LBP afterwards and it was gone. Again. Naturally, I was frustrated even more than before and starting to gravitate away from LBP, and the PS3 altogether. Shortly afterwards, I'd decided to give it one more try after downloading the Pirates of the Carribean DLC pack, and after having enjoyed myself immensely, (Also, of course, WATER!!), with the new adventure content, I jumped back into creator, giving one last try to create a tropical island/pirate themed level. If you've followed my post up until this point, (then I, firstly, applaud you for your patience), then you should have guessed the recurring theme here. I made a particularly awesome pirate ship, utilized the water, (WATER!!), created some, (If memory recalls.), serene and pictureseque coral and underwater sections, as well as designing a beach-front. Then, nothing. Once again, my creation had disappeared. Unfortunately, this killed LBP for me, and along with it the PS3. I sold it shortly thereafter and bore no more thought about it.

That is, until I heard the announcement of LBP2. Alarm-bells resounded within every inch of my skull as a creative spark danced almost rhythmically from one idea to the next. I was excited, I was hooked. When the moment presented itself I once again purchased a PS3, bundled this time with LBP2. I had what can best be described as a near fatal 'nerdgasm'. In terms of the level of creativity and customization, I was hard pressed to think about what exactly they would do to actually improve on the original. I was thoroughly impressed. Unfortunately, this was not to last.

I can't fully comprehend my mindset at the time, (My head is a place of strange occurrences.), but for whatever reason, I'd become bored of LBP2, (And once again, with the PS3 as a whole.) Here I had a game that has near-unlimited potential, and I was bored. I had ran into significant connection issues over a long period of time and found it near impossible to even get online most of the time, and I had ran into some financial issues and sold off pretty much my entire library of games, bar LBP2. While I did not sell my PS3, I left it alone completely. It stayed on my shelf collecting dust for months and months. Until two days ago, where, in a moment of boredom, I turned on my Playstation 3 and booted up LittleBig Planet 2 for the first time in so long that everything felt new. This weekend can best be described as an intricate miasma of LBP goodness, punctuated only by biological necessities. I have not had so much fun in years.

In a single, crystallizing moment, LBP2 and the PS3 for all intents and purposes willed into existence, and I lamented the fact that I had left such awesome and expensive objects lying around unused. I've spent hours and hours rushing through the adventure trying to save craftworld, (Aren't sackbots just the most awesome things you've ever seen!?), and fervently played versus and community levels as if they were a drug I was badly addicted to.)

So there you have it. I am back enjoying LittleBig Planet just like in days of old, and my PS3 is now getting, and shall continue to have, frequent use. My current state is where you all come in. I wish to begin some serious creating, and I stumbled across this seemingly incredible community. I thought I knew a lot about level making, but it seems my knowledge and capabilities have been greatly humbled, and so I signed up in order to learn from the best of the best, and share with you the to-be products of my creative spark. (Hopefully!)

I will also take this moment to thank anyone who actually bothered to read the wall of text.
Thank you for your time, look forward to observing and playing your creations.
- Maleficent.

Edit: So, is that enough of an introduction?

I think I used to write like that as a teenager as well. It's embarrassing to think about.

You should read this: http://www.bartleby.com/116/

@Brixx: Possibly, but I never really enjoy talking about myself, and my introductions are usually bare or non-existent. This seemed like a simple enough, yet still relevant way of testing the waters, as it were.

@Lady_Luck: Yeah, thanks. Don't think I'll be getting bored anytime soon.

@Ayneh: You wouldn't be making a presumption in attributing my intellectual capacity or age to my literary prowess, would you? Perhaps I am being paranoid, but your post did seem odd, almost accusatory. What exactly did you mean by 'that'?

TL;DR
I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
You seem quite the smart guy, speaking in fancy long sentences.
Welcome to The Central intelectual.

I'd say they typically dovetail with one another. It's a phase.

I'm merely offering you advice I myself could have done with, nothing more. If you're anything like me you'll cast it out of hand, though.

@nysudergh: I apologize for the lack of a td;lr.

@Ayneh: There is a natural association they draw generally, I will admit, I merely wanted to point out that they are not exclusive, and that presumptions you draw in regards to me over my writing are probably incorrect.
While we're on the subject; what problems did you find with my post particularly?

Also, as a note to everyone, if you see any typos in my posts, could you please draw them to my attention? I despise misspelling things.

Hi Maleficent and welcome to LBPC! Man, talk about an intro! I'm glad to hear that you've reconciled with your PS3 and I look forward to your future creations as the ones you described in LBP1 sound like they would have been really good. When you get the chance you ought to peruse our Help (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?126-LBP2-Help%21)and Tutorial (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?127-LBP2-Tutorials) sections. Most people here are really nice, albeit smart alecs such as myself, but nice all the same. I look forward to seeing you around. Have fun and enjoy your time here.

That was the first thing I noticed when I opened the page. Well after I got over the surprise... I usually come into these threads seeing something along the lines of 'Hi I need help' or 'Hi I'm new here' with a little bit about themselves. But this... This was slightly scary...

ANYWAYS!

Welcome to LBPC! There's a lot of great people here willing to help, tease, humiliate, and joke around with you. Glad you could make it!

I wasn't expecting this when I clicked the link. Compared to my introduction... well, let's not compare, shall we

It's nice to see that you've found enjoyment in LBP again. I too have only recently returned, though only after a few months away.

There isn't much in the way of misspelling but you misuse a number of words, use conflicting tense and many sentences are otherwise grammatically awkward. That wasn't what I was getting at, though.

If I'm incorrect I'm surprised you haven't grow out of it. That would only tell me any advice at this point is useless.

I'm glad you picked up on those, now I wish to see how you react to this:
tenses* grown*
Don't criticize someone else's posting when you cannot even spell simple words correctly.

Let's just say that when I spoke about 'testing the waters', I was speaking more accurately than you may have known. Nothing personal, 'tis a habit I have developed.

@Sackgirlsrule: For someone who was speechless, you sure said a lot.

@AnyoneImissedout: Thanks for the welcome.

Ahh, if you're saying those were intentional errors and the entire post was a ruse, then congrats, you had me fooled!

I wasn't criticising your spelling or posting, at all. I wrote as much in the previous post, along with it being implicit from the link I posted to begin with.

I guess whether you believe me or not is irrelevant, but this is something I've been doing for years. Especially after what happened to the last major Forum I participated in.

Welcome! Glad ya made it!

So sorry you had so many issues creating in LBP1. Too bad you didn't join up as we could have helped you. For one thing, always do a level backup, though the option did not exist until co create came to be. Take those and pull them as well as a profile backup to a usb thumb drive. I then put those on my pc in their own directories named after the date I pull them. Also publish a locked level as an online backup. I also do a Save As rather than a simple save at times so I have several versions on my moon. More importantly, anymore I never create in the level. I do all my wacky platforming and other ideas in workshops where I can test the heck out of them. I spend very little time in the main level itself which keeps it safe from disasters, especially the dreaded 160 hour bug.

However, glad you finally came back once LBP2 came out and especially found this site so that we can help with any questions you might have.

Have fun!!!
