Controllable Skateboard! *Tech Demo*
Archive: 6 posts
Recently me and a friend were messing around with some tweaks and managed to make a skateboard that you can both control and not fall off of! With the skateboard you are able to make it move left and right, rotate when in the air and jump. There is also a little point system to go along with it depending on how long you are in the air for. Here's some screenshots: http://i43.tinypic.com/119m3qx.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/121vny9.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/9j3r7d.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/2iu507m.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/sdio3l.jpg The level is 1-3 players and has a few ramps and a rail for you to try out the skateboard on, controls are inside the level along with some other information. I'm hoping I can get this noticed just a little bit and then work on some project that this can be used in. There are a few bugs here and there, a bug with the point system where if it tumbles upside down you can still get points by cheating and if you spin too fast and go completely upside down you tend to fall off. Aside from that though it works fairly well and I am still working towards fixing them issues. Hope you enjoy this little sample and I am always open for suggestions. http://lbp.me/v/9p5ksn | 2012-01-29 11:58:00 Author: Unknown User |

Just got done taking this out for a test drive and it's a pretty cool idea and concept. VISUALS: There really isn't much to the visuals on this and I think that the author could have spent a little more time on the looks. It is a "Tech Demo" so I don't think that the looks were as a high priority as the actual skateboard functioning properly. Still I think there could be some improvements that would make the experience better. GAMEPLAY: The gameplay was pretty fun. It does take a few to get the hang of it but not long. I do wish it was little bit more refined because this idea has a bunch of potential. The tricks weren't as fluid as I was hoping and I think that is where this level suffers the most. FINAL THOUGHTS: As a skateboarder myself, I love the idea of skating in LBP. I think you have a good idea and with a little more work and attention to details you could have something special on your hands. RATING: Visulas: 2 Stars Gameplay: 3 Stars Overall: 3 Stars VERDICT: Good Job! | 2012-01-30 18:03:00 Author: xiSiCx Posts: 125 |

Just played this and thought it was good fun! But like xiSiCx said, it could use some refinement. I don't like the idea of Up/Down to control the board in mid-air. I would instead prefer if the left analog stick's Left/Right movement controlled the mid-air control. If you refine the skateboard to perfection, then you could make an awesome Skate park styled level! Possible even some kind of competitive timed/score based minigame! Would be awesome to play something like that. So good job and I hope I see some kind of follow up from this in the future! | 2012-02-01 08:06:00 Author: fruitmanlolli Posts: 151 |
