No. No I Dont. But this is how i would do it.

I would imagine that everything would be made out of small cubes, if you were making a moving character, it'd be a hologram. Set the Material size to a small flat hologram cube and build your thing.

If your animating a moving character, you must build your character in different stages of his movement. if that makes sense.

to animate it, you need a timer switch, and a selector. wire the timer switch up to the loop option on the selector. i would set the timer switch to 0.1 for a smooth transition in the animation. then once youve finished building your character's animation, wire up each slot from the selector to the characters' different movements. if that makes sense.

if you did everything correctly, then BAM you've got an 8 bit animation. If you need help with this, feel free to PM me and ill go into it in more detail.

This would require quite a bit of thermo because of all the small parts. Especially after you add in all the enemies, designs, etc.

I recommend using Hologram to make your person/monster/object, take a picture of it, and then put it on a square of Sticker Panel. This reduces thermo greatly but lowers quality as well.

So you have to pick. Longer level with less quality. Or shorter level running the great visuals we all know and love from 8-Bits.

By no means do I consider myself an expert, but I do have some experience making smooth animations. And after months of trying different things, I think I've refined the process a bit. If you want, I can try to show you in-game, but if not, then I'll try my best to explain it here. If you're interested, just post letting me know.2012-01-29 10:09:00

Just curios why most people suggest using hologram for 8-bit character animations when to me sticker panel seems like a much better choice? I make all my 8-bit characters using sticker panel.. Is it because not everyone has the move pack?2012-01-29 20:56:00

Yeah I can't imagine why anyone would use hologram if they also have sticker panel. I'm sure it's just because not everyone has the move pack.2012-01-29 21:10:00

For my upcoming pokemon level I'm using sticker panels. I made all the sprites and glued them together. When I made my sprites I made them out of neon, took a picture and then placed them on a sticker panel. Then on a microchip on the sprite and used some movers and other things. Then I added a sequencer with some batteries on it. When the selector gets to a battery that animation will perform. I find using sequencers a lot easier than using timers.

The reason why I use sticker panels is because:
1) They use less thermometer
2) The colour black shows up on them really well
3) They are just awesome.
