Level: Which way is up?

PSN: Walter-Kovacs

Which way is up? is truly an original level with some mind-boggling gameplay. The author did a fantastic job of simply making this level work and for that I commend him for. I can't begin to imagine the tinkering that was needed to get this level to function smoothly, and I encourage people to give it a play for this reason alone.

2.5/5 ---> Appearance- the one thing that is lacking throughout the level is the overall look of the level. It's quite plain, but at the same time the blandness of the appearance is quite overshadowed by the ingenious mechanics the author uses throughout.

9.5/10 ---> Gameplay- the platforming can be tedious, but it is by no means impossible. This is one of those levels that you would just love to ace because of two reasons: for one it is possible (unlike many other levels), and secondly it is challenging enough to keep your attention. From the onset you can see the freaking end of the level but the spiteful author makes you traverse the level not once, but twice! But that's the point The first time you travel through the level to the end, the whole level does a switcheroo and you engage a whole level of platforming challenges. You get to the end of that section and the whole level does another switcheroo and you backtrack...only backwards. Ingenious! And only ingenious because the author makes it work so well...I was truly amazed during my first run-through. There are some very original platforming sections in the level that simply require some good timing and poses a medium degree of difficulty. I especially loved the shooting colourful foam/sponge that rocketed you to the exit of one section, which I thought was extremely well thought out. Altogether a treat for anyone looking for something different

4.5/5 ---> Replay Value- Most definitely worth a second, third or fourth play. You won't be blown away by the look of the level, but the platforming and the possibility of acing the level will keep you coming back for more! Bravo :hero:

Overall Score: 16.5/20

Great work Walter-Kovacs! Easily one of the best platformers I've played on LBP.

Thanks for the great review. Maybe someday I will learn how to make thing pretty. I finally finished my second level last week, so be sure to check that one out too, it is also difficult but it has a different unique mechanic.2008-12-29 23:12:00
