Tube/Pipe sucking logic. (Uses Attract-o-tweaker)

Hey there. Sozo here bringing you sackheads another simple type tutorial made by me~

Well if any of you folk just got the Muppets pack like me then you are most likely playing around with the Attract-o-stuff logic seeing what interesting things you can maybe make. Well ever since I got the tool I been testing out a handful of different logic ideas with it. *mew

One of my first tests was to see if I could make a more simple tube sucking logic with it, you know like in the LBP2 story-mode level where bots get sucked up in to tube/pipes? Anyways that is what I’ll be talking about with you folk today. *mew

1st step.
Take out your basic Sackbot & DCS set-up… I should not have to explain what that means if you know how to create levels whatsoever... oh note. put a max-out gyro on the DCS... i forgot for a sec there.

2nd step.
Take out some tubes or even make a simple custom pipe/tube like small level layout.
Make sure the objects don’t move by putting some logic or whatever on them for this test.

3rd step.
Take out a SP/holo block and put a logic chip on it.

Inside the chip put a Attract-o-tweaker and a tag sensor hooked up to it in it. Change tag sensor’s settings like this…

And make the tag-sensor set to read the same tag-name as the one on the bot of course.
Note: On the Attract-o-tweaker, just max out it’s range.

4th step.
Putting it all together… for now just try to match my layout in the pics, you'll get the idea how it works after you try it out. Anyways put 1 copy of the holo block on every pipe part or so. You’ll need to change the tilt of the tag sensor to match the different angles… make sure the hole in the tag-sensor’s range is pointing in the direction the bot will be coming in from on every pipe part.

5th step.
Now just tweak some, and try it all out. It should work fine, It did for me anyways~ Now go have fun. *mew

PS: this logic only works for 1 bot or player and not any more then that very well... to make it work for sackpeople instead of bots, replace the tag-sensor with a player sensor.

How reliable is this? I've found the material to be a little bit unpredictable. Also, from my understanding, I can make a two way system by sensing which entrance the sackboy/sackbot is using, and hooking up a counter or selector, am I correct?2012-01-27 03:52:00

^ yeah i'm pretty sure you can do that. and it works ok enough from my testing, though you'll need to test it yourself and see if it's what you want ETC. *mew2012-01-27 04:12:00

hm, you don't need double jump to turn it on/off ...logic should be used to only turn it/off on when needed/wanted. unless you are asking about something my topic is not talking about. *mew2012-01-28 00:07:00

To enter the tube, don't you have to press x twice to escape a gravity field? For example, how would one make the tube automatic or activated via (let's say) the triangle button.2012-01-28 00:36:00

To enter the tube, don't you have to press x twice to escape a gravity field? For example, how would one make the tube automatic or activated via (let's say) the triangle button.

to make the sackperson/bot get pulled on to it, all you need is for the sack to be close to the object and for it not to be on the ground. meaning only jump once or even if you used a mover to make it go off from the floor even for a sec the object will then pull the sack in to it. that's the whole point behind this tube logic is that it's automatic. *mew

But in the story mode I think the bots just got sucked in, but using the attract-o-tweaker you have to jump once to let its powers work on you, wish it had a special option that uses it gravity on anyone near it...2012-02-16 18:22:00

Well you don't have to jump... all you need is the sack off the ground, and to do that you could just build in a custom jump-pad in the floor that pushes the sack up just a little bit super quick. this is Tutorial was not trying to be a 1.1 copy of the story-mode level idea. there are other tutorials on this site that tell you how to make perfect copies of the Tube logic from story mode... though they only works on bots unlike the way i showed here. *mew

Err? xD
Attract-o-tweaker & Gel only work on Sackpeople/bots... if you want tube logic for objects, you'll have to use tags & movers ETC. sorry.
