Game Data Utility Backup: Help!

Archive: 7 posts

Hey guys! Its me again with some stupid question like always.

I want to back up my LBP2 saves just in case something happens. No LBP2 data is saved in the [Saved Data Utility (PS3)] option, so i assumed it was under the [Game Data Utility] section. I checked, sure enough it was there. But you cant copy it! How do i transfer it to a USB?! I need this to work!

Thanks for helping everyone.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

Since LBP's profiles can be bigger than Sony allows save files to be for the PS3 (or something like that), you have to back up your profile in-game.

In your pod, press the start button and go to options, and find "Back up profile" under the profile tab. That'll save it in the saves data utility and then you can back it up to a USB drive from the XMB menu like any other game. You have to import profiles the same way, and if you're importing a profile on an account that doesn't have a profile yet then you'll need to beat the Intro level before it lets you import one.

I will add, that on your USB drive you need to make a folder called PS3, the system will automatically save to this folder and when you import from this USB, make sure the SAVEDATA file is in that PS3 folder. I usually make subfolders for all my games and sometimes have several saves for each game. Like LBP, I'll rename one 23DecSAVEDATA and another one the date I saved it. If you need to import it, rename it back to SAVEDATA2012-01-26 04:24:00

Actually I think the PS3 folder is created automatically. Because I never made the one on my USB.
