Le Fantome de l'Opera

Le Fantome de l'OperaVelcroJonze
Paris, 1905. You play as Raul. A man in love with Miss Daae'. Only one thing keeps you from her. Original level design by jkarow24. Thanks to Alismuffin.
I first played jkarrows POTO level over a year ago. I beta tested it, and then asked if I could get a copyable version, to clean up a few things for him. DLC issues happened and he was never able to publish the other version. So I had this level and I wanted to do something with it. There was so much that I wanted to add, I decided to scrap it and build it new from the ground up.

I have been trying to finish this for over six months. Health issues have been a tremendous burden on me, but I worked on it when I could. I decided to finish it last week and here it is. If you played jkarrow's version you might recognize a couple things, but for the most part. this is a VJ level. I am proud of it, and happy it is done. I took down Lil Racer Scenic View to make room for this, I just didn't want to publish it on Samantha's PSN.

I hope you enjoy.

I'll do F4F on everyone, just give me time. I am not as fast as |used to be.

Thanks to Jkarrow of course, and to Alismuffin. I swiped one of his characters and used it for Miss Daae. It was just to perfect not to use.

Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone.

Hate to say it, but I am fixing to republish this. I discovered a few typos and a spot where you can fall through to the floor.

Always find those things after publishing.

Wow. I think this is possibly my favorite level of yours! The beginning really didn't seem like a 'VJ' level but as I got into it I could see your fingerprints all over the gameplay.

Amazing job dude. 5 Stars and <3 of course.

Time for a review!

The Goods:
- Good story
- Awesome cut-scenes
- Amazing sticker work
- Good choice of music and materials
- Fun gameplay
- Great corner editing and characters
- Hidden bubble areas

The Bads:
- There are two sections that allowed me to escape the level and walk on the background floor! C:

The Most Awesome:
- The cut-scene with the Phantome was funny!

Overall Rating: :star::star::star::star::star: + <3 (An awesome level with stunning visuals and gameplay that no one should miss)

At the beginning, where are those bubbles behind a wall... pretty clever.
But I made it to pass it with no problem.
Got my highscore on the first place. Great level!

Unc, if you ask for an F4F, you've at least got to try to give a reasonably helpful review. You're just asking for a review and give pretty much nothing for it. F4F is about trading reviews, not typing a couple of words on your kindle and then expecting the other to be happy with it and give you a good review in return...

Thanks Val, I appreciate it, yeah Jkarrow, section was alot different than what I would have done, but I felt like I needed to stay as close to his vision as I could. The platforming sequences are all mine though.

Yeah, I am sorry about those couple of spots where you can get to the floor. Dang psp and the fact you can't edit your levels!! I always find things like that later. Thanks again my friend!!

Hahaha!! Thanks Wertpol! It's okay though, I never really stated how long the feedback needed to be, so I will stick to my OP and give UNC a review.

An excellent level from an excellent creator.

Let's start with the visuals. They were very well done and fit the level perfectly, though I can't help feeling that some stickers appeared too frequently. It's all preference, but a bit more variation with those would have been nice. Otherwise, everything was spot on without a corner out of place (and that's an incredible feat in its own right).

The story was a nice addition, even if it felt a little tacked on and underdeveloped. I appreciate the effort, but I just didn't "get it", so to speak. The phantom didn't seem to have any motivation for wanting to trap you, though that could quite possibly just be me having short term memory loss at the moment. On the other hand, it wasn't overly intrusive, which I can appreciate. Speech was kept to a minimum and delivered the framework for the level without becoming tedious and annoying.

The gameplay, however, was flawless. It was simple fun; the type of level I think of when I imagine levels in LBP. It was a blast to play, truly, and just another reminder why you are one of the best.

I thoroughly enjoyed this level, gave it five stars and a heart. I wanted to give you a creator heart, but you already had one, so that was a bit difficult

Wow, this was brilliant. Great material choices, great sticker work. I questioned the choice of the purple glass at first, but when I got used to it it actually fit really great into the level and was easy to distinguish from the non-sippery parts at the same time. The characters looked great and unique (Well the clothes anyway lol) and you always kept to using the same materials for the same purposes. All in all just a very great and unique art style.

Awesome as always. It has been a long time since I've played a level by you, and this level still has the same feeling as your others do. The gameplay was innovative and fast-paced(except for the part where you had to wait for the dialogue to end, but you get the idea ), and it's hard not to replay the level over and over to try to get that perfect score. I'm not really good at bubble collecting and usually just ignore them, but this level just really made me want to d exactly that. The platforming sections were well thought-out and worked like a charm, and they were often accompanied by little slides in between them. The story was a little weird...I didn't really understand what the fantome was about to do or tried to make me cause, but I might have missed something or just be too big of an idiot to understand it. The length of the level was just about perfect too, and everything just worked so well together.
(It's possible to escape the level when the chandelier falls down by the way, but who can blame you for me always trying to do that)

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lO-SetoI8Uw/Tt1VGALnBbI/AAAAAAAAADg/_FyyH2FYzFo/s320/music.png
You always chose fitting music and there were many sound effects scattered around the level, so nothing to complain about here.

It has been a long time since you last published a level, but it was well worth the wait. It really has that VelcroJonze feel to it, and I love it. I hope you get better soon and maybe publish a few more levels, be it on psp or the vita.

49/50
(In other words 5 Stars and a heart...and sadly, I had aready hearted you as a creator )

It'd be lovely if you could give a little review on the Girl at the Observatory, if you find the time to do so.

@ Schark - Thanks brother!! Getting a spotlight never gets old.

@ Fading Dream - That is the best review I have had so far, and I really appreciate it. I agree, the story should have been played with a bit more. I normally steer very clear of dialogue for obvious reasons. All of the script came from Jkarow, I wished I could have got in touch with him before I published it to work on some things. I am glad you enjoyed the gameplay the most though, that always brings a smile to my face. I have Beyond the Flower Patch cued up, and will play and give a review. Thanks again!!

@ Wertpol - Thanks for the incredible review!! I was so happy you when I woke up seeing you had reviewed it. I have always thought you were one of the best reviewers there is, so this was a real treat. Thanks for the heart too, they are always very welcome. I have your new level ready to go, I was thrilled to see you published something new. I will return the favor of some feedback very soon. Thanks again.
