Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy 2

Archive: 13 posts

Hey guys just finished publishing this last night, took a good majority of the day to finish it but it was worth it! This level introduces you to Sandover Village and focus's mainly on it, you can run around and perform various tasks for the villagers in exchange for power cells. I've tried to maintain that classic "jak and daxter" vibe while you play, so here it is. As of right now I can't do F4F] as my computer isn't working but I welcome any comments. Hope you enjoy it! Ok now I can F4FI will do as many as I can, but don't overwork me! and I urge anyone who hasn't played the first level to do so as to learn the controls.

Looks cool, I like your re-creation of the old dude with the log on his head, very funny!

^As did I. I played it last night and is is fantastic. I'm not sure if you changed anything backend but each section seems to load in smoother. The controls and platforming were perfect before so, all I can really say is this is a new world to explore and you sure have made it fun to do so!

It did take me a while to remember all of the powers though like the super high jump and long roll thing.

Just played this, left a review in-game. I ran into a bug at the end. I didn't eject from the sackbot at the scoreboard. Bit annoying since I was on 9000pts. But the level was so fun! As I say in the review, when this bug is fixed, message me and I'll play it again and alter my review to reflect on what happens when a player gets 100%. Which I vow to do!2012-01-17 23:43:00

Thanks for the encouraging words! I fixed several bugs I overlooked like the ending logic and some of the sackbots acting out of turn. So far I think all issues have been fixed, but you never know...2012-01-19 00:55:00

Played yesterday. Great work. You really captured the essence of the early stage of Jax and Daxter. Great design and Sackbot acting. Look forward to what ever you make next. 2012-01-21 16:51:00

Ok, a few questions?
How many Power Cells are there. At most I get:
1 from the mayor for funding him in his campaign
1 from the farmer for the animals
1 from the bird lady for the egg thing
2 (Glitch?) from the adventuring uncle.

Does the sculptor actually give out one?

Is there a fisherman (for the boat)?

I'm assuming I get the Mayor's gears moving in another level as I cannot find any blue eco.

Can I get the speeder working yet? (Also, when I talk to her she reappears at the bridge, doesn't say anything and sometimes the original hangs about)

Love the level, Glad you are making this series. I loved the first J&D game. Wasn't too keen on the others. They were good but they seemed less about the exploration which you've captured perfectly here.
This is one of the only single player level I have gone back to to play. So well done!

I played both levels, and they were wonderful! It was great, but I would correct serveral glitches.
In the first level, there are 60 orbs but the map says xx/50
In the second level, I got 2000 points (2x 1000 points) when the farmer gave me the cell.
At the end, the counter of powercells said 6/5, so I guess I got two cells from the farmer. Seems like the power cell emitter logic lags a bit, since others had this problem.
When you talk to Keira, she teleports to the bridge, and the ship she was working on still sparks. I looked weird. (I would have kept the joke when Daxter tries to flirt ^^)

I really can't wait to see how you will the the jungle, the plant battle, the zoomer challenge and all... Do you plan making them ? I hope so, cause I must admit that there wasn't a lot to do in the town for now.

Could you give me feedback on my health meter toolkit ? I just updated the level so it' simpler to understand.

You might end up using it ^^

Another good job on the "Jak and Daxter" level. The level design is as interesting as the previous level, and the objectives of earning the power cells are intriguing. I did see a problems, though. There is a sudden death somewhere around the palm trees near the starting point of the level when I got on the leaves. I didn't get through all the objectives, but the level, overall, is well done.

each of the villagers, excluding the green sage, sculptor and keira give you a power cell in this level, in the following levels, you can finish the tasks, like finding the scuptors muse, using the speed boat, you meet the fisherman in level 3 and get to take on the mayors quest as well. As for keira, I don't know if it's a random glitch or if its something else, I've tested walking up to her and she appears fine, I dunno, but everyone above asking for F4F, I have your levels queued and will play them tonight, I will return F4F either today or tommorow. And yes, out of all the Jak and Daxter games, number 1 was my favorite as well thanks everyone for the feedback and encouragement!2012-01-22 00:53:00

Number one, your fav ? I don't understand at all then. Okay, it was more colorful and more platforming, but with number two the story went a lot deeper and better since Jak could talk and say jokes. I guess I don't like much the first game because I played it too much. I know all the texts by heart (in french, however, because at the time I didn't speak english - now I play in both languages to see the other voices). I were bad at videogames at the time, so I died probably a lot on it.

I often judge games in series by looking at how much it improves it. Jak 1, good game. Jak 2, adding a great scenario, larger and less-linear gameplay, weapons and vehicles. Jak 3, less new stuff, though we add a desert, another town, light Jak and more guns, so it's also a great thing, but I'll prefer Jak II because of the huge gap there is between Jak 1 and 2. Finally Jak IV, made by another dev team, is good, but there's upgrades and downgrades. Only 4 guns and no peace maker, that's a minus. New upgrade system, that's a plus. No more dark-light Jak, but new powers. No more cars and zoomers, now new ships (great idea!). Bad graphics, bad camera control, less acrobatics, ugly mutants... cough.

I want to start off by saying thank you for playing and giving me feedback for my level!

The gameplay for this level is awesome! I enjoyed collecting all the stuff and I like the idea of mini quests

The visuals are fantastic too! Great use of the fifty-layer glitch and the day/night changing is pretty darn sweet!

It did however take me 2 playthrough's to realize you can double jump etc... XD That's just my own stupidity though

Well done!
