Klausland: Liberation Day

Archive: 4 posts

A while back I made a LBP1 level called 'Klausland', I was using a different account at the time and am now making a sequel.
Whilst the initial level was very basic and showed my inexperience with working with LBP, I was proud of it in my own little way and consider the idea to be my baby, so much so that the LBP stuff is just one aspect of what I'm doing with this concept.

So, the story. Basically, Klausland treats the story of Santa Claus as if he was actually real. If Santa was real and forced the evles to toil all year round making toys for spoilt Western kids, he would be considered a dictator. I'm enjoying running with this idea and I can milk a lot of absurdist humour out of it. Whilst the initial game simply dealt with you escaping one of his sweat-shops and assassinating the reindeer, this one goes a bit left field.

Klausland: Liberation Day is in three parts.
1. A street festival celebrating the liberation of a village from Santa's control.
2. A museum, showing props from the first game and fleshing out the story a little.
3. A mission in a lab in which you are tasked with hunting down a monster.

The festival and museum are both simply precursors to the lab level and you won't reach the final score until you take down the monster. I've been working on this for some time and require a little help from you fine folks
So, if I may, I'd to ask you some questions:

1. Is it possible to make a flag which flutters in the air? I've seen that effect in curtains in certain levels, but am unsure if it could be used in the context I intend.

2. The monster will be played by a heavily stickered-up sackbot. Do you have any tips for the boss battle, if there any way I can work it so the paintball gun can kill him?

3. When making a cutscene, how do you get subtitles? In general, movie-making in LBP2 confuses the Hell out of me, so any information would be much appreciated.

Well, thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the level when it's completed and, just for you guys, here's some concept art

Question 3:
To get subtitles, simply put magic mouths on to a sequencer, give a sackbot an actor name, give the mouth the same name as the sackbot (this allows for you to have lip synch) and change the mouths settings to subtitle.

here is a link from the LBP Wikia
Link (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Magic_Mouth)

and here is a link to a step by step guide to making a movie but it can be adapted to a cut scene
Guide (http://lbp2challenges.blogspot.com/p/how-to-make-movie-level.html)

Question 1, I do believe there is an item from the gardens, although this requires a lot of time perfecting the sticker.

Question 2:
Use the paint sensor set it to what ever you feel is a decent amount of damage. Then hook this up to a destroyer/s and ensure that they are placed on every part of the monster, if he isn't glued and had mobility. Then attach the wire to the destroyer, set how he dies, blows up, shrinks, etc.

Hope this helps. My LBPBlog (http://lbp2challenges.blogspot.com)
