Just played this, I can't fault this level anywhere. It does what is intended to do and does it brilliantly. I got 7 lollipops, but have vowed to return for the rest! The music is great and whilst there's little variety in enemies, the placement of them really cranks up the difficulty.
Well done! Thumbs up and a Heart from me.

Got 10 of those lollipops each more delicious than the last!

I like the stage, it achieves pretty much everything you set out to do. I felt that the collision detection of the turtle was slightly to large tough.

Personally I would have left his head out of it (but kept the neck). I think this is why people seem to struggle with judging the jumps as the collision detection comes out past the centre mass too much.

The jump is rather floaty also, which is ok but if the tail were to flick up and down franticly it would be a nice touch as it would suggest that he is trying to use it as a helicopter, quickly explaining away any player questions about the physics.

I felt that the end boss took a little too long to kill and that the lasers passing through him were off putting, as I was not sure if I was actually damaging him. His attack patterns are great and are easy to dodge, but also easy to die on, so a good balance there. Maybe if the laser did twice the damage and made a small explosion it would feel more umm... pew pew BLAM.

The only real thing that I did not like was the re-spawn, it's too fast, and jumps weirdly to a screen that I think I can see some on the level walls on. A death animation and a pause to re-spawn would help with the flow of the level... as you move so slowly that when you re-spawn it is a little jarring.

The music was great as was all of you designs, and the ending was nicely done. Also very generous with the prizes.

The cynic in me suggests using the word giveaway in your level description though.

Thanks for the feedback fusion! i agree with all the points you made. however, the music is unlocked chronologically, and every two lollipops you collect rewards you with a music prize. perhaps i could have made that clear in the level.2012-01-15 18:50:00

I liked this level. To some it up quickly

+ unique atmosphere and feel
+ great music
+ excellent 8 bit design
+ final boss battle was designed well

- the turtle was so slow
- repetitive enemies
- hit detection isn't 100% accurate

Cant decide whether I like the platforming and controls or not. I felt cheated alot, but I have to wonder how much of it was my fault for getting impatient or something else

Very, very good level. But after playing it a dozen or so times thats it for me, the turtle is just too slow to make replaying the level that much fun.

Dont get me wrong, this level is the best I've played since I can remember, better then the Spyro level I played recently. Why? Ultra Turtle Blaster Extreme required a good degree of timing and skill to complete with a high score. I liked being challenged in a level, thus the many replays. I think your level is better then alot of levels that make MM picks, it should be getting much more plays then its getting.2012-01-17 17:38:00
