How to properly destroy objects glued to the terrain?
Archive: 6 posts
Hello guys! My question is actually pretty basic, but I still have some problems with it. Here is the situation: http://i.imgur.com/G6TE1.png As you can see, I have a ground object with some complex object (which consists of several objects itself) glued to it. Now I need to destroy this complex object, so I attach a destroyer somewhere, with "Include rigid connections" option turned on. But this way, the ground object will be destroyed too! What should I do? Of course I can add destroyers to all parts of the object, but it's a pretty silly way Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks in advance and sorry for somewhat messy explaining, English is not my native language | 2012-01-13 19:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
I wouldn't glue the object I wanted to destroy to the ground. I'd just glue the complex object together and add a gravity tweaker to keep it from moving/falling over. Was there a good reason for gluing your object to the ground? | 2012-01-13 19:37:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
You could position the complex object appropriately and use a material tweaker set to sticky instead of gluing it to the ground object. Turn off the material tweaker one frame or more prior to activating the destroyer to destroy the object without destroying the ground. fullofwin's method is superior unless you need the object and ground to move relative to each other. | 2012-01-13 19:53:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Thanks for replies. I thought about tweaking the gravity, but would this object still be fixed in space? I mean if there's no gravity at all, it would move in any direction if pushed, right? Though Ayneh's method looks fine to me | 2012-01-13 20:10:00 Author: Unknown User |
I thought about tweaking the gravity, but would this object still be fixed in space? I mean if there's no gravity at all, it would move in any direction if pushed, right? If you set the dampening on the gravity tweaker to 100% that won't happen. | 2012-01-13 20:13:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
