Spectator Seats

Archive: 3 posts

I am working on a 2 player co-op level and I thought it would be a good idea to include spectator seats in case more than two players enter the level. Each spectator seat consists of a Controllinator on a thin square of hologram, both invisible and each one has a follower so the spectators follow the non-spectators throughout the level.

The problem I've found is that when two spectators are in their seats, they would initially follow the non-spectators but then they would stop following.
It happens randomly at any time wether within seconds or minutes. I haven't experienced it when there's just one spectator. So I think the problem might be that since followers tend to follow any player, the spectators end up following each other instead of the non-spectators which might be the reason why the spectator seats refuse to move along with the non-spectators and get stuck on the spot. I've tried many workarounds with logic etc, but it still happens and it's quite frustrating as I can't seem to find a permanent fix.

My last resort would be to do away with idea of spectators completely but I've put a reasonable amount of stuff (actions & dialogue) specific to the amount of players in the level.

So can any of you logic wizards here at LBPCentral provide any useful tips which might be helpful?

One way is to solve this issue is to set the followers to follow tags on the non-spectator seats.2012-01-13 15:55:00

If Ayneh's idea doesn't work, you could try atatching the spectator seats to the object that they would have been following.Just remember to set them to be invisible in play mode, and so that they can only be entered when both objects that would have been followed have been ocupied.2012-01-13 17:58:00
