Along Came a Spider

Along Came a Spider is a showcase for my LIMBO spider. The level is reasonably short and the spider is given as a prize (if you save the boy). I tried to capture the essence of LIMBO as much as possible with a couple of tweaks of my own Here are some pictures: http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/e59e406b571ce5b614acadf5bc406c8fc177c16b.jpg http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/0239ce92ca4548fda4d9004e882519c121f82a46.jpg http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/37911524b0e670de6db702cd817d8f5978fec7cf.jpg http://if.lbp.me/img/ft/bcf1b814058c343f22878b30d487206a2394b84f.jpg http://i4.lbp.me/img/ft/ff49b2658ca2cbd54577f6f0822673c72403e22d.jpg http://lbp.me/v/85fp90 | 2012-01-10 19:35:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |

This is a great level! Having a slow crawl along at the start really sets a tone, and the lack of colour as you edge toward the first green section means that the importance of such parts is really underscored. I really liked the spearing of the enemies also. As you mentioned it is a rather short level. A very nice looking level and the motion of the spider is very realistic. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the overall content. As I didn't get to use the spear move again and when I arrived at the end the choice wasn't what expected. I thought there would be more of a challenge to try and win the prize (a great gift BTW). I was expecting that I would have to dig through a maze/mine and try to keep up with the boy, but pay attention to what I dug as to not collapse anything and crush him or myself. But it really boiled down to 'Do you want the prize or not?" Nothing wrong with that as an ending, but as there was no danger up until that point it wasn't really any thought of self preservation, it just didn't have any real resonance as the choice to make, and the choice to die didn't actually kill me. Anyway; overall an amazing stage and well deserved of being in the #1 slot of cool pages ATM, but it's more of an experience and a (great) tech demo than a challenging 'save the boy' stage. Play it and you will enjoy it, but don't expect any edge of your seat nail biting moments, it's more about the environment and the mood. | 2012-01-11 08:19:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

Yeah in no way is this a level as such, I made the spider and kinda just wanted to show it off I don't have time to build puzzles and stuff to go with it, but I think this is a nicer way than just saying here's a spider have it as a prize! | 2012-01-11 11:41:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
As I am sure that if you changed the title to Free Limbo Spider Giveaway no one would want to play it (sarcasm). Looks pretty cool though. I have wanted to do a silhouette level for a long time but just haven't gotten around to it....yet. congrats on the mm pick for coal cart calamity and for being able to find your way to the top of the cool levels. | 2012-01-11 15:25:00 Author: shookie99 Posts: 447 |
