Plot Since the dawn and dusk that set on the first day in history they have existed... The Elements, immortal demi gods bound to humanoid forms and controlled by the more powerful gods of the sun and the moon. Solus the sun god and Azura the Moon god battled for control of the earth as Solus wished for nothing more than his rays of light to warm the world and spread joy and hope to all who bask in his glory. Azura however was a vain spirit. He wanted the world to be cast into darkness so that he may be the only glowing symbol in the sky for people to gaze in wonder and worship. Their fighting literally split the worlds crust in two, enraging the seas and engulfing the earth in flame. With the elements as their weapons they almost destroyed the world and the creatures who dwell upon it that they both so selfishly wanted for their own. The elementals, growing tired of the fighting between these two sentinals abandoned them and escaped to the most distant corners of the planet where they could cause havok on their own. Realising the evil they had released upon the land Solus and Azura declared peace between themselves and shared the world half by day and half by night. By working together they recaptured the elementals so that their energy could be controlled and contained and no more harm could be caused to the world. All four elementals were sealed in a large magic treasure chest and left in the hands of humanity who now dominated the land below. Solus and Azura returned to the distant skies to watch over the planet while the humans cast the chest into a temple and sealed it forever. However... humans are such simple creatures, easily tempted by power and greed. It would only take one to release the elementals back into the realm of humanity and allow them to continue their chaotic spree of terror... That day has come. Overview In this tale you play as Jack the famous treasure hunter who foolishly mistakes the chest of the elementals as a chest of supreme wealth and riches. Accompanying you on the hunt at first is a woman named kari who dissapears shortly after the chest is opened and the worst is feared as to her survival.. Jack cursed with the guilt of what he has done is summoned by Solus and Azura who speak to him in the temple and charge him with a task to recapture the elementals before they destroy the eco system and wipe out all life on the planet. Over a number of levels Jack recaptures each elemental and after doing so gains some of their power. After capturing the fire elementals spirit he is able to travel through molten rock, shoot flames in all directions and "blaze run" in a chosen direction... even up walls! After capturing all the spirits he may return to the temple to dispatch them back into the chest and save himself and the world from destruction. Features * Multiple sackbot control - One player can swap between two totally different sackbots (Jack and Kari) to complete puzzles * Master the Elements! - Jack gains powers from each spirit he collects. Swap between human form and demi god form to use specific powers against your enemies * Powers - Include snap freezing, ice slides/bridges, fire morphing to pass through molten rock, double jump by using wind to propel you upwards, tornado attacks, extinguish, float platforms on water and many many more * 4 unique boss fights and a final boss * A complex storyline with two different endings. Hidden treasure and easter eggs to be found! * A land changed by the weather - The levels change from night to day and are effected by the element that inhabits them. You could be in a desert where a forest once stood thanks to the fire elemental burning down all the trees, a flooded marsh where a town once stood thanks to the water elemental flooding it, etc http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y272/arastoph/02ca28694c2570aecf1c41318ae33f6f25a49669-1.jpg | 2012-01-10 10:48:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
Yay I just saw your reply to my recommendation post about your trailer to this anticipated level. I was about to reply to it and tell you to make sure it's up in the level showcase but I see it's already up. No need to delete it as it should be up here in the showcase. But you can go to edit post > advanced to delete post number 2 above. I'm quing this one up and here's a few pictures so I'll add them in here: http://i2.lbp.me/img/ft/5b298480f1975a64554b26cf3dfc04de41b8090c.jpg http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/d5ba9c1dc4f6e3573af531308962464174fd2bb5.jpg http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/519e0b183a426e8f02d4cd629f6bb6f401d151ea.jpg I'm definitely playing this one a bit later today. From the pictures it look great, but I'll be back. | 2012-01-10 11:14:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
Ah cool. I see you finally released your epic project. Got it queued, but won't be able to get to it til tonight. Look forward to checking it out. | 2012-01-10 14:38:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
he he dont expect too much epicness yet CYMBOL! i am slowly easing the player in with this level, getting them used to the controls for jack/kari and allowing them to complete some simple puzzles to get to the goal. Part two is a where the epicness begins and the level is far less forgiving! i am looking forward to what you think! | 2012-01-10 14:42:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
Bug Fixes and Updates A fix was added to stop people from getting behind the scenery towards the end of the level. Less lag during the final sequence and during the water fall area improved camera angles in 3 key areas some text boxes failed to open when prompted this has now been fixed controls made clearer grappling hook improvements have reduced the chance of being sent skyward like a rocket due to it glitching out. other improvements to the hook make sure that it no longer betrays you and kills you via impalement either. more secret point glyphs added... <3 see? im too kind to you all | 2012-01-10 23:23:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |

I was going to mention those bugs you've fixed but I can see you've sorted them. Especially the grappling hook killing you (happend to me a few times near the waterfall section) & getting behind scenery. This level is visually impressive and full of detail. I found the storyline and character very intriguing and it was a nice intro and learning curve towards the rest of the series. Having the different elements of gameplay between each character and the puzzle solving made me think and want to explore more. I still managed to get behing a bit scenery but it didn't kill me and I was able to get out, so that's minor. My only problem is lack of direction or hints in one area; although I like that it doesn't completely hold your hand I did indeed miss the fact that I had shoot a stone to make it go up and press a button. This was towards the end and I was left wondering what to. So I ended up wondering around with each character trying different things. I then got stuck behing a pillar as there's no way to get my other character over since I missed the button or get the character that was stuck out from here: http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/f553b7e9b21f7f66a84db32d5c7862387d9b8086.jpg From the picture you can see that this has happend to someone else that has played your level. This did not put me off and I ended up coming back to play it again to see what I had done wrong. On my secound go I realised that I had missed the crucial button and other players may also do this and get stuck. A subtle glow as a player gets closer, similar to the one on the rock that you have to move at the begining would help stop this problem and less likely to cause a 'player error'. Even point bubbles along the way may help direct the less intuitive player? Or some sort of visual cue consistant with your level. The controls and characters are handled well and I'm definitely keeping an eye out for the rest of chapters. I managed to get a few of those extra prize points placed in areas but not all of them. This looks like a great series and even the level hub is full or atmosphere and mystery. Here's a pic of it to prove it: http://if.lbp.me/img/ft/edfad0ee27ce841770a9cf88ae057b5d2bed222c.jpg The camera angles and large decorations makes it quite epic to look at. I yayed and hearted it because I felt it deserved it and because I can see myself coming back to play the rest of the series as it evolves. <3 | 2012-01-11 11:13:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
dang, des beat me to it. yep, that's my pic of me stuck behind the pillar. I shot the sap and that one section burned so I just full heartedly jumped down and was stuck. Other than that one hiccup, I had no real issues. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that there was sap around the bottom of the statue and that was why I couldn't move the thing. I thought the design was fantastic and loved how you portrayed a rich, jungle feel to it. The controls were pretty easy to get used to and I liked the different abilities they had. I'll be going back through this as I wasn't able to reach the scoreboard, plus, I didn't even see the Hub level and that pic looks great! Very much looking forward to revisiting this and the next chapter. I just now realized that you made one of my favorite levels. Trouble Within! I have to revisit this one as well. | 2012-01-11 13:21:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
This is a great start of an epic adventure. Good visuals, with nice lighting. Interesting puzzle gameplay, that is nicely blended into the background. I like the fact that you have to search a bit before finding the way to proceed. Good use of the two different characters with their different abilities, creating a nice 'single co-op' mode, as well as establishing the onset of a story. Interesting dialogue, that doesn't slow down gameplay. Loved the cinematic with the appearing scoreboard. Very good. Small stuff: -I just played the level, but got squashed a few times while using the grappling hook. -Also, there is a sequencer icon visible in the scoreboard-area. Really enjoyed myself. Will certainly check out your next levels. If you're up for F4F please check out one of my levels below. | 2012-01-11 14:31:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
I feel a bit slow witted. What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to move the stone statue at the beginning of the level and it lights up, like I've locked on to push it, but then doesn't move. I'm obviously doing something wrong since no one else is having this issue. I really want to check this out. Just from the beginning, I can tell its going to be great! | 2012-01-11 16:23:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |

Ha yes I was stuck here for a few minutes since it's not very easy to indentify the sap and stuff that you can burn at first. Take control of Kiri and fire a flare into the sap stuff at the base of the statue. There's not much hand holding in this level and even I got a bit stuck. Once you know what to burn it's all ok, I felt really silly after I realised what I was doing wrong. | 2012-01-11 16:38:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |

Maybe the girl could say, "It looks like its stuck, better let me handle this". Cool. Thanks. Look forward to seeing more of this tonight. | 2012-01-11 17:12:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
Looks fantastic, got it queued for later! | 2012-01-11 19:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for all the feedback guys/gals! About the issue of handholding.. i did have an idea in mind of implementing a button players could press in order to make kari/jack give their opinion on a situation which would work by changing the response variable depending on the tag /label in the area of the player (simple logic really) there would be a cost for asking for help though of around 100 points each time the button is pressed which may not seem much but just to give you guys a headsup as to the rest of the chapters, any points you gain now all add towards the final score and the final outcome of the game! a low score means terrible consequences And for all those that do not know this there are many green glyphs floating around the level equal to 1000 points each! some may have seen one or two but in actual fact there are at least 7 in the first level alone! have fun finding those The main problem with this level is the complexity meter. At the moment i am at max with the thermo going mental the minute i open a microchip! if i can find some way to make the thermo go down a bit i will do my very best to improve on helping the player in sections that do not seem obvious! Also for anyone interested head to the ideas and projects section for a few details about the next part in the series! https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=65120-The-quot-Elementalis-quot-Project&p=967388#post967388 and levels requested to be played by me will be played within the next few days and i will be more than happy to review and heart! | 2012-01-12 02:14:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
Nice and enjoyful level overall. Good visuals and decorations, however I felt like I had some fps drop most of the time while playing it. Jack's hook was fun to use, I'd like to see more puzzles involving it About first statue, it's not clear that you should firstly burn wood under it, I can barely see wood there. And the button at liftpaintinator room, which opens gate: everytime I touch it, movie camera is showing opening gates, it's pretty annoying. | 2012-01-13 02:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
some fps rates could be improved if i change some of the camera angles so i will have a go at improving them for you and that movie issue is an easy fix i will change that as soon as i get back from work thanks for pointing that out for me | 2012-01-13 07:22:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
Ok, played through more last night. First, looks fantastic. It has a real dense forest feel without feeling cluttered. The characters look great, and function seamlessly. Really liked the character power ups. The puzzles can be head scratchers at times, but never impossible. The hint system is a nice addition. It looks to be a great start to a grand series. Major issues - I got stuck in the level. The part where there are two bounce pads in front of a large structure. Off to the right, I jumped and fell into a shallow area and couldn't get back out. Without being able to pop, I couldn't continue. No other issues. Since this is a feedback thread, I'll give a few more recommendations. If asked to be really nitpicky about the level, I'd probably point out this one main issue. Theme. The story seems to take place in a olden days. But we seem to have modern day items. The flare gun seems out of place. Maybe just call it a flint gun to keep it in line with the old days theme. Also, the paint gun looks out of place in the theme of the level. Maybe just have the character shoot certain areas with the grappling hook to break weak joints. Make those red instead of orange. Another personal choice of mine would be to not have the big red buttons in the level. Those look ok in a platformer, but look out of place in a story level. Instead, I would suggest specific types of stones that sink when stood on. When someone gets off, they would rise again. Something like that would keep more in line with your theme. Most of these suggestions are artistic choice only and are not right or wrong. Mainly, I'm just saying, what I would do. But the level is great as is. It has a lot of charm and is obvious you put a lot of heart and soul into it. Look forward to seeing more. | 2012-01-13 16:27:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
thank you so much for your review CYMBOL. It is interesting that you think this level is set in the past some time! It was meant to be set in our modern era with the ruins only being discovered after thousands of years underground. The flare gun would easily be in context with the era as would any form of sidearm i guess i should make it more clear as to when this is set. The fact the sackbots cant pop will be fixed when i come back from my holiday on thursday so there will be no reason to worry about getting stuck again! Thankyou for the compliment on the scenery as well! Considering how artistic and well presented your levels are i see that as very high praise indeed. In some of the upcoming levels in the series i aim to use custom made pressure pads and buttons but due to complexity now being a massive issue in this level i may have to leave the basic buttons in. Thanks again for your in depth feedback i really appriciate it. When i get back on thursday i may update this comment with some more in depth responses to your review but right now i am responding from a phone and it takes forever to type with a stylus lol | 2012-01-16 16:32:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
UPDATE A scoreboard has now been added at the end so high scores can now be recorded can you beat mine? custom score bubbles have been added thoughout the level which not only provide the player with hints as to where to go next but also have a significant role in the final ending of the series when it is released. grappling hook improved again! now with 99% of success rather than a 50% chance of glitching. The logic was changed in order to make the player not try and get inside the hook when heading towards it! closed up all known gaps in the terrain that allow you to fall out of the level or vanish behind the level. increase in fps rate thanks to a change in on screen effects and camera angles by pressing L3 in particular areas of the level the characters may recieve a special hint as to how to complete a puzzle. The drawback to this help is that the player loses 200 points from their score. kari now animates properly at the end of the level rather than standing still with a blank look on her face. I hope all of these changes help make the gameplay better for you all! future updates include sack bots can be popped after holding down a particular button for 3 seconds automatic level link to the burning ruins of abrakash at the end of the level as well as within the chapters section of the level hub. The note at the end of the level will also be removed. extra sound effects for the flare gun and grappling hook general improvements in terrain layout to stop accidental layer changing if anyone could please let me know on this thread what they think of the new updates that would be wonderful i want this series to gain quite a bit of interest as the whole thing will take almost a year to complete. I want to know its worth the time and effort.. give me some motivation pleaseeeee! also if there is anyone who is able to record the level for me and provide me with a video i can use for my youtube channel (all credit given to the creator) that would be incredible! i have tried so hard to get some people to record it for me from the level link to the end of the first level but no one on the forum seems interested. HAVE FUN! <3 | 2012-01-17 14:52:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |

I played this level a few hours ago and that was a really fun level. Despite some lags, the visuals looked outstanding thanks to the custom designs of Jack and Kari, material, sticker and decoration use, and effects. The controls of Jack and Kari are varied with puzzle-solving actions, too. One minor issue I found in this level is that there's a sudden death when grappled on a target near a secret, but that happened only once. There's not that much to say, but great job.
