As spotted by Fusible.com, the publisher recently acquired the domain name BlackOps2.com for an undisclosed amount. The domain name was originally registered shortly after the first Black Ops title was announced in May 2010, however the owner was never identified. The report points out the original registration was under "Domains by Proxy" by GoDaddy but has now switched to internet brand protection company MarkMonitor, an Activision client. In August 2011, Activision acquired the domain names (http://fusible.com/2011/08/activision-may-go-up-to-modern-warfare-6-black-ops-6-with-its-newest-domains/) all the way up to Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare 6, however, a "Black Ops 2" web registration was missing at the time. It should be noted that URL registrations don't necessarily mean the games will ever be developed and released. Activision may be future-proofing its brands in case it decides to go forward with them. [Source: Fusible (http://fusible.com/tag/activision/)] Link. Thoughts anyone?? | 2012-01-10 01:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
Oh joy. Another one. Yay... /sarcasm I'm not saying that CoD is bad. It's just annoying how they think they need to pump a new one out every single year. How about, instead of making a new game with the same engine and mechanics, you try for something along the same lines, but make it more original. All they're doing now is pumping in things that make the kids happy. Since they know, as most people do, that a very large portion of the CoD fanbase is under 17. I mean, MW3 has been out for less than 3 months. They announced a new CoD the day after it's release. And now they're reserving a site for a new one. Who didn't see that coming? | 2012-01-10 01:51:00 Author: Speedynutty68 Posts: 1614 |
Either sequeling or ensuring they have the domain so its not used maliciously. | 2012-01-10 01:52:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Very obviously Activision's next money printer. I'd be surprised if they didn't come up with another Black Ops this year. They've gotten to a point where they don't even care about a new subtitle. Treyarch employees are repeatedly hitting Ctrl+V as we speak. | 2012-01-10 06:30:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
The least they could do was make it a different title like: White Ops :/ | 2012-01-10 14:38:00 Author: DominationMags Posts: 1840 |
Either sequeling or ensuring they have the domain so its not used maliciously. You actually think Activision just wants to hold the domain with no intentions of making real use of it? 99% chances say that this is Activion's next CTRL+C CTRL+V | 2012-01-12 23:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
I like Cod campaigns but not their online play so i don't think it would hurt to have another story driven shooterthen again as much as I love my FPS maybe a new theme or a new game instead of Cod would be more worth the effort. Maybe if they took Call of Duty to a new level and mad a future soldier version or a Sci Fi version. | 2012-01-13 00:04:00 Author: Lordwarblade Posts: 761 |
