I noticed that LBP2 has gone Platinum, and it has a new case and stuff. But what does a Playstation game going platinum really mean?

It is part of a Sony 'budget' range. To go 'platinum', the game has to have made 400,000 or more sales in about it's first year. I am no expert on the gaming market, so I am not totally sure how easy it is to get to this level. However, this does add a certain 'quality' to the platinum range... whilst the product quality is cheaper, the actual games are only the higher rated ones. I asume it is a play on the 'platinum record' from the music industry, but that is just my speculation.

It means it's sold over a million copies in stores, so now it'll come down in price a little bit, probably to the $40 range and even more people will get it.
