Invasion: Masari

Invasion: Masari is my upcoming LBP 2 level, i was tired of seeing all of the repetitive bomb survivals so i just came up with this and in the process of making it currently. Invasion: Masari takes you in the shoes of a office worker during an alien invasion. You will get to see the beginning and the end of the invasion. Your main purpose is to survive, each day, the player shall receive 100 points, those 100 points equal to 1 day, they will when you die and those points shall represent how many days one have survived, people can compete with each other on how many days they will survive. Random events will occur to make the game a different experience each time you play, these events could be evacuations, supply drops, or even the destruction of the surface via "GIGANTIC ALIEN DEATH RAY OF DOOM". There will be a heads up display, a blue bar will represent water and a red bar will represent hunger, these innovations will introduce actual survival, not just "KILL, KILL, KILL!". Speaking of kill, you won't find a gun in the beginning, i'm not saying there will be guns but you won't find a gun anywhere you see. if you do find a gun, ammunition is scarce. I will make it where players can store items they find and bring them back to their camp, players can also set up their own camps. Buildings will be set up realistically, for example: You blow up a wall, this will have a dramatic effect on the top floor, you blow up a pillar that supports three floors above, those three floors won't last... I have already started production and will regularly update this thread. I can do this alone but i would really appreciate some help. Please comment and say what you think. UPDATE 1
I have made three enemies currently and plan to make about fifty. I have also taken notice of LMMN's request.

AI/Npc List:

Drone: A small alien robot that usually comes in swarms, they can fly and will try to stick on the player, after three seconds they will become electric, thus destroying the player if close. The player can grab the robot, once grabbed, the robot will become disabled and explode, which can be pushed at other enemies thus destroying them as well.

Search Drone: A medium sized alien robot that has a search light and a plasma cannon, if the player gets in the view of the search light, the robot will open plasma fire on the player. If the player charges, the robot will charge and most likely destroy the player. The player can grab it and destroy it by holding on for ten seconds or shooting it with the paintanator. The robot has a two outer shellings.

Mini-Walker: A large robot that can walk and is armed with a searchlight, three plasma cannons, and missiles. If the player gets in the view of the searchlight, the robot will unleash it's plasma cannons and will shoot missiles. There is a warning light that will turn red when it shoots. Can be destroyed by gun.

(MAKING) Reptillians: Reptillians are the lowest in the Alien Hierarchy, they are green and have sharp claws, they will mostly come in packs to hunt down their prey. You may dispatch them in several ways.

(MAKING) Grunts: Aliens that are armored and can shoot any human, they will take more than five shots to dispatch, they are coordinated in squads, use caution when facing them as they are extremely agile.

UPDATE 2

I have recently recruited LMMN, we are now working on a heads up display for the player. For now, we are almost ready to start on the Main Level, all we need is probably more people that can help. Right now, i plan to have an actual alien NPC enemy that can shoot you. I'm focusing on more organic enemies now instead of mechanical enemies. That is all, i'm mostly on at 11:00 to 12:00 Pacific Time. You can find more information on the enemies in the update AI/NPC List. We have finally decided that we will make players control a sackbot rather than letting them use their own costumes, we know alot of people dislike this feature but we will add an option to disable the costumes. We wanted to add the sackbots so we can create more story to the game.

Character List:

Detective Trung Nyguen: Born in Vietnam and raised through the United States, Trung went through Law School and became a detective for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He fought and solved deadly crimes and criminals but nothing could have prepared him for the Invasion, who knows... this could be a test.

Ryan Burns: A distinctive man working at a company know as Gen-tech, before the Invasion, he was your casual office guy, now, he will stop at nothing to survive the Invasion.

Clive Brown: A muscular man that spends his life coaching for a College basket ball team, he was a tough, but well mannered man, though, the Invasion didn't stop his humor.

Ashley Mcneil: A smart young girl about to get out of college when the Invasion began, she didn't keep her hopes up when she saw all her friends vaporized right in front of her eyes. Now one objective remains for her, to reach her family in hopes of finding Haven.

I could help with AI, although my log on times will be speratic, you should add me and ask me if you need to figure some bots out or something. I'm good with HUD especially.
EDIT: This project sounds very interesting, a nice survival that is based on skill, preservation, rationing etc. I think I'm working myself up a bit to it. This will be great if you do it right.
EDIT2: Okay, you've really got me excited. If you screw this level up, I am going to take over and make something similar to my visualization of your idea.

I never said it was a bomb survival, yes it's going to have bombs and your going to have to survive but that's not the point, you probably don't get the plan of my game.2012-01-09 04:50:00
