Cancelling physics sounds?
Archive: 4 posts
In my quest to make an 8-bit sticker panel character I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to rely on tag sensors, impact sensors, movers and gravity tweakers to make an animated sprite behave with any degree of accuracy unless the sprite has a physical object attached. For example you can make the sticker panel object trigger an anti-gravity tweaker with %100 dampening on impact with the floor but you will still travel through the floor an unpredictable amount before actually stopping. I would love for someone to prove me wrong, as my most obvious work around for this is using invisible solid materials to define the borders of my sprite. This works well except for the problem of collision sounds between the invisible objects. I read somewhere (and tried to find with no luck) that it was possible to override physics sounds by simultaneously playing a bunch of other sounds at no volume. Does this work for impacts and friction sounds? and how do I make sure the game sounds I want to play will play when they are supposed to? If anyone can guide me to more info would be much appreciated. On a somewhat related note, I think it would be great if there was a way to play a sequencer instrument note as a sound fx without the 2 second lag of starting the music sequencer. Or a way to record a short samples as sounds that trigger instantly like normal sound fx. Oh well a guy can dream.. | 2012-01-07 22:08:00 Author: Death_with_an_H Posts: 72 |
The material tweaker has a setting called "physics sounds". set it to no on your collision object and you should be good to go | 2012-01-07 22:13:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Wow are you serious? That is way to easy, now I feel like a noob! I wonder what did I read about cancelling out sounds or maybe I imagined it in a logic induced nightmare.. Anyway, thanks! | 2012-01-08 02:05:00 Author: Death_with_an_H Posts: 72 |
I wonder what did I read about cancelling out sounds... Maybe you read about removing the intrinsic sound effects of emission/destruction or that of Sticker Switches? Removing physics sounds are pretty straight forward though | 2012-01-08 09:25:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
