War of the Cactuar Pt.2 - Screenshots/Videos inc.

Archive: 5 posts

Name: Final Fantasy - War of the Cactuar; Part 2
Location of level: Smack in the middle of America (I'm English, but, I like putting levels here, hah)
PSN/User: Ashencross

About: Part 2 in a multi-part story line where Sackboy finds himself helping one race of Cactuar (Regal Yellow Blossoms) mid-fight with another (Red Lotus)~

This level is heavily quest based; NPCs change their text depending on completed tasks, and will unlock access to new areas where more things await! This level is pumped up to overheat status in the editor, adding 2-3 more prize bubbles causes the "Your level is overheated, and you cannot save" message to appear, therefore, bubbles are only in the first half of the level. With that being said, ignore the score and do what LBP does best, make your happy head go "whee~"! ^-^; The end is a little rushed; it got to 4am last night, I was fighting with the last 1-2% of the thermometer and had to squeeze a few more things in - Just, don't let go at the end til the arrow points down, because you'll end up through the floor, couldn't add gas, hah, a little sloppy I know, but I had little choice in the matter D:

Thanks for playing :3

Video gameplay, and a few screens too~

Aye, I know the quality is a bit poor - I'm in dire need of grabbing a PS3 > PC recorder hardware, haha. Never needed one til now, if anyone else wants to play the level through and re-record, please, by all means, do so~ <3

Made changes to the level, including gas, deleted "off-scene" things due to some cheaty camera angle work, lol.

However, thought I'd throw in a preview of a new character to Part 3, Mr. M.

Mr. M is rather upset that the Cactuar known as 'Tophactuar' promised him riches with a dirty 'H4H' scheme, and has gone into an absolute rage~ Sackboy tries his best at calming him down~ ;3

All the vines lash in and at with timings, and is a phase boss fight (IE: stuff happen, weak point appears, next phase, weak point appears, etc. - The MGS pack boss is an example of this I would guess~)

This is a preview of the boss, still needs a little touching up, only just started the "colour" process (I make everything out of wood/cardboard when I start my levels, lol).

Hey, I played your levels while randomly looking for levels about cactuars the other day.

They're pretty cool, the second one is definitely better than the first, but the first wasn't bad either. I enjoyed the power room puzzle, I thought it was really clever, unfortunately I had a bit of trouble remembering where to go afterward and did a lot of running back and forth before finding the exit.

I didn't think you'd show up on LBPC, hope you decide to stick around. You're a pretty talented creator

I don't come here too often~ I work a lot of hours, and making levels kind of takes up a lot of my spare time; I just want to get stuff out there when I can, I'm sure a lot of people can relate ^_^

I just want to get my stuff out there; We all know how hard it can be when you really work at something only to see your level never played, even by the people who you want to play it (IE: People with the same interests as you, etc). There's a lot of amazing themed levels out there, and a lot of extremely talents folks~ I've played so many levels that are absolutely breathtaking, only to see their play-count hang around 100 and be somewhere on page 134 or something on the planet.

Also, thanks Gilga~ The complement means a lot, I'll try harder to stick around on the boards at least while in edit-mode from time to time :3
