My Etchings!! Enjoy Sackies!
Archive: 12 posts
These are some (of many) of my etchings I made as commissions for a Gallery near where I live! The owner of the gallery was once a preacher, hence the "church" subject! The churches are situated on Anglesey, Wales. Feel free to comment, good or bad, I appreciate all criticism! I made them with hard ground on zinc plates! I've been making etchings from home just over a year now, its a lot of fun! Enjoy! xxx http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38361 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38362 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38363 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38364 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38365 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38366 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38367 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38368 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38369 | 2012-01-06 19:39:00 Author: dureva1 Posts: 20 |
You have officially blown my mind. To little tiny microscopic pieces. The shading and detail is outstanding. If this does need improvement to you, then I can't wait to see what you call a perfect piece! | 2012-01-06 20:42:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
Those are some great pieces dureva. From the beautiful trees and hills, to the great architectural design, to the overall mood presented, you've got a true talent. | 2012-01-06 21:45:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Wow, this is impressive. It looks so beautiful. You did awesome with the design of them. I'd definitely like to see more Art from you. | 2012-01-07 01:34:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed. I did a few etchings for art class when I was in high school and while I love the scrappy (for lack of a better word) look they give I found the process too tedious and frustrating to ever continue doing it. Out of curiosity, roughly how long did you spend on these? If you can post up some more, I'd love to see them, especially since etchings don't seem to be a particularly common medium. The 3rd and 6th one's are my favourites, partly because they're slightly darker overall than the others but I also, for reasons I can't pinpoint, just like the look of the trees and ruined stonework. So atmospheric, you might draw me away from my paints to try etching out again. The detail you have achieved is amazing. n_n | 2012-01-07 10:10:00 Author: PygmyOwl Posts: 1316 |
very beautiful artwork...I like it so much I'm going to ask the usual question of do you take requests for artwork? more specifically character artwork? would love an answer | 2012-01-07 10:33:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
@Shadowcrazy, hmmm I've never made an etching of a character before, nor people in that matter! I guess I would give it a try why not!! Im so glad you like them!! Thanks! xxx @SR20DETDOG, the time spent making these depends on the image but I guess probably overall around 4-5 hours? it depends whether I'm having a good or bad day! lol. I spend about 1-2 hours drawing the image on the plate, the rest I spend preparing the plate, actually etching it in the acid, and printing some out through the press. Urggh, I agree! some days it can can be frustrating lol, in that case I give up and try again the day after! Its funny you say that the 3rd and 6th are your favourites, I was more careless with these, they have a hap-hazard quality to them, I sometime think if I work into the details too much I ruin the appeal, ahh I'm glad you like them! Thank you! xxx Aww thank you everyone for such nice comments, I'm happy you like them, and the feedback is helpful! xxx | 2012-01-07 11:06:00 Author: dureva1 Posts: 20 |
Ah, I guess that's why my first attempts we're a little bit feeble. I just didn't have the patience, The few etchings I did were completed and printed in about 30min lol Looking back over them again I think it's the lack of straight lines and white space, inadvertently caused by your carelessness?, that makes them appeal to me. And just wondering, they're all done in a very similar style, have you experimented with any other styles? | 2012-01-07 12:59:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
