Very nice job, the art's great, you could add some sort of animation to the death of the monsters maybe, but I understand this is just a test. Anyway though, it's very interesting so far.

O.o I tried for fifteen minutes and couldn't get up there Where were you jumping from? Since the character moves at a constant rate traversing a 45 degree slope gives you 1.414x the speed, allowing you to gain more momentum when you jump. There are also collision issues whereby colliding with a wall is treated the same as being on the ground allowing you to jump. These are common oversights that you can use to exploit a lot of games.
