Bot Protection(Aka Anti Bot Movement)
Archive: 19 posts
For those of you who came to this thread thinking i was going to talk about robots protecting the site HAHA! No that is not what this is about. The matter at hand that i wish to discuss with you all on this fine day is well, BOTS, simply bots, during my time here i have noticed that without question we get a lot of em, i notice they sign up every day or two and spam something multiple times before leaving to go bug someone else. And i get rather aggravating some times. not to the point to where i want to destroy something but to where i think to myself "Bots!... BOTZ!! BOTS EVERYWHERE!! IM GOING MAD WITH BOTS!!!" This may not seem like a big deal to you but i think they are slowly turning me mad, i feel my mind festering into a bot obsessed paranoid freak show the likes of which no one will want to hang out with. Maybe i am making this seem too much like a big deal but who will be laughing when these bots get powerful enough to come into our homes at night advertising jewelry to us while we are trying to sleep, or trying to get us to check out a line line of panty hose?(Maybe even eat our children?) exactly!! i knew you would see my point Lol enough rambling, i propose we eradicate this problem once and for all, what we need to do is simply add those weird symbol thingy do dads to the register form, simple, everyone is used to em and bots for some reason cannot for the life of themselves figure out the codes. I for one laugh knowing that their are literally thousands of bots chilling on a sign in page for multiple second(hours in bots worlds) attempting to infiltrate a site. So come on lets get some support for the ANTI BOT MOVEMENT, leaded by your pleasant Tyrannical dictator Tyranny68 <3 | 2012-01-06 10:19:00 Author: Tyranny68 Posts: 390 |
To be honest, I don't really mind the bots, dare I say I've even grown fond of them? I always get a little laugh out of the fractured English and the, often feeble, attempts to conceal their true identity and purpose. The more vocal one's are my favourites, it's almost impressive the way they can work ugg boots into almost any topic Then you have the sly ones, the ones that use nothing more then a subtle link as a signature and reserve their post for proper appropriate information, I've seen a number of people caught out by these. | 2012-01-06 10:45:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
You sir are the more advanced bot, You're working in the interest of bots everywhere, the classic sign of a BOT overlord, your clearly one of the most clever bots i have ever seen, even appear to have levels/hearts and a rep, very very clever, though i see through your rouse and i know a bot when i see em, trying to infiltrate my thread and spread your BOT PROPAGANDA!! Well i sir am not falling for it. Have a good day BOTface | 2012-01-06 11:00:00 Author: Tyranny68 Posts: 390 |

I've had better conversations with bots than real people. | 2012-01-06 14:07:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
^it seems long ago bots overtook the central, our only hope at destroying them is to seize their profiles and take them out one by one, this mission will be dangerous however, but i for one look to get i done | 2012-01-06 19:36:00 Author: Tyranny68 Posts: 390 |
Yeah I've been also annoyed by bots and I'm glad that someone finally has made a thread about this. I think that mods should really add the Captcha feature to the register form. If they do this there won't be any single bot here on LBPC. | 2012-01-06 21:04:00 Author: Schark94 Posts: 3378 |
...i propose we eradicate this problem once and for all, what we need to do is simply add those weird symbol thingy do dads to the register form... If you're referring to a CAPTCHA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA), there already is one on the registration form. ...bots for some reason cannot for the life of themselves figure out the codes... True, but... CAPTCHA is vulnerable to a relay attack that uses humans to solve the puzzles. One approach involves relaying the puzzles to a group of human operators who can solve CAPTCHAs. In this scheme, a computer fills out a form and when it reaches a CAPTCHA, it gives the CAPTCHA to the human operator to solve. Spammers pay about $0.80 to $1.20 for each 1,000 solved CAPTCHAs to companies employing human solvers in Bangladesh, China, India, and many other developing nations. Other sources cite a price tag of as low as $0.50 for each 1,000 solved. Another approach involves copying the CAPTCHA images and using them as CAPTCHAs for a high-traffic site owned by the attacker. With enough traffic, the attacker can get a solution to the CAPTCHA puzzle in time to relay it back to the target site. ...so it's not particularly effective at stopping spambots. How 'bout we change it to something like this... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2174/2268237733_cda4a1dbb3.jpg ...? | 2012-01-06 21:15:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Ha, I recall someone suggested we should redesign the questions to be LBP questions. Easier said than done though... | 2012-01-06 21:18:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I would like something to be done though, if their is nothing we can do then their is nothing we can do, but it gets quite aggrivating. | 2012-01-06 23:38:00 Author: Tyranny68 Posts: 390 |

But I like to spam their threads and profiles. ;_; Now don't say I'm a bot Tyranny, because I WILL send you to The Void. How 'bout we change it to something like this... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2174/2268237733_cda4a1dbb3.jpg ...? One Year Later CC: Only three people joined this year, and all they did was making threads about math, I wonder what happened. | 2012-01-07 11:43:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |

Make all new members be in a validating group that can only post in the introduction forum until a mod verifies their humanity and moves them into the normal members group. | 2012-01-07 15:24:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
