Fully Automatic Paintball Rifle

Archive: 14 posts

I used the same technique that I did on my Metal Slug tank shells to construct a simple fully automatic rifle. I couldn't fit it into a level currently, and probably will eventually, but in the meantime - search PSN: NinjaMicWZ and find "Automatic Paintball Rifle DEMO"

It's a pretty nice object IMO, and for the short and pointless (but still aesthetically pleasing) level you will receive a paintball from me, for anybody who hasn't figured it out yet.

That one is neat!

I can see some interesting uses for that sort of idea. And that rifle was cool.

Now if only they'd create an auto-version of the actual Paintinator so I didnt have to mash the button 10,000 times......

I'mma have to check this out later, but I think I have an idea of how you got the paint ball... which I'm going to have to try out after I get off of work today.

This will actually make my Armorboy stuff easier to work with and more than likely drop it's thermo limit as well.

Paintball? Paintinator? Shoot? Pause? Capture?2008-12-28 18:55:00

Paintball? Paintinator? Shoot? Pause? Capture?

Yep. Alternatively -

Paintinator + Pause + Shoot + Enlarge to max for later flexibility + Stickers/Objects + Capture

You can put it on objects, deco it with a coin if you want - it's a very flat object when enlarged and has to be stickered from a few different angles. You can use that glowing triangle and some green paint to make it look like a plasma ball or something. You can even stick multiple paintballs together for chain effects.

I'm even going to try and use a series of emitters to do something like OCK's rain and see if it is easy on the thermometer or not - aquamarine paintballs can be rain, white paintballs can be snow, red paintballs could be blood sprays (not sure if that would be allowed, but they have blood stains in Sensei's Palace). The possibilities are high with it once you capture one.

I'd say just stay away from the whole blood issue considering Sam_Protagonist told me that was the main reason the Azure Palace was brought down was because of that bloody Sackboy statue in the beginning...

Take it for what you will, but I wouldn't want anyone experiencing the bs I went through with that whole situation.

On topic, you can always use two players, one shooting and one capturing to make it easier. I haven't done it yet, but I'm assuming the paintballs continue to fly kinda like how emitted stuff sometimes continues on it's path without disappearing after pausing or rewinding.

Also, just to make sure... the color of the paintballs changes with the color of your background right?

Pop-It background? Yes.

Pop-It background? Yes.

Word. Although my orange and red backgrounds make my paint come out more whitish than what I'd like them to be.

Yeah, all of the summer colors seem less saturated.

Not that I would know! >_>

The blood was why it was getting moderated? That's completely ridiculous... like I said, there's blood in the story levels too.

Yeah... two player could work too to capture it. If you just pause and then fire while you have a paintinator, the paintball will freeze in mid air and then you can capture one. It's actually pretty cool to see if you unload a barrage of paintballs in pause towards an enemy, then unpause and watch them get collapsed by some kind of super hadoken slurry of paint. That would be a cool idea too if I could implement it in a good way where sackboy is training in the secret art of fire(paint)ball...

I've noticed too if you set very large paintballs to emit at a slightly upward angle they form a cool looking bubble chain as they fall that resembles a slinky of paint. An obstacle of some sort could be developed with it - a barrage of paintballs pushing you back like a torrent of water, but you must press on.

...and yeah, I think if you change your popit before you fire, then capture - the captured paintball stays that color even if they player has a different popit color. It's easy to sticker them to another color, but that can take up alot of thermometer space when it's on an emitter.

I said the same thing to them too, but I'm obviously not the one who makes the rules.

But yeah, they can totally be used as droplets, etc. It's going to add a bit more depth to creation. Good job finding this out again. ^^
