Super noob build question

So I've been searching for awhile an I cant find an answer to my problem> I'm fairly new to LBP2 and I'm trying to build a Staircase that moves into place with a switch. I've been trying with pistons with no success. Of course it belongs here! If it's a question about anything in LBP2, you post it here. If it's a Tutorial you post it in the Tutorial part. If you want to talk about the story levels, you post in the story levels forum. If you want to ta- Nevermind. I think you get my point.

I'm fairly new to LBP2 and I'm trying to build a Staircase that moves into place with a switch. I've been trying with pistons with no success.
I'm guessing you mean where each step individually rises into place out of the floor, or something similar? If all the steps have equal dimensions then it's just a case of incrementing each piston by a set amount. I believe 1 small grid square is equal to a length of 2.5 on a piston, if that helps.

If all the pistons are set to directional when you wire your switch to them and press it they'll all extend together.

You could also place followers on the steps and make them follow tags that the switch turns on, so you could have the staircase assemble itself together from different directions, which might look cool.
