Resource refining system

After making much progress on my project I've run across another snag. In my level I Ihave collectable resource objects that require refining to be converted to the player's score. I haven't figured out the logic for having collected objects to add to a counter visible to the player and at the same time coverts them into score at a set, upgradable rate. I actually hadn't seen that one yet, and it was very informative and useful. For my purposes it may not work, though. My resource collectables will be emitted,thus there will be an arbitrary number of them. Allso, they may number around 100 or so at any given time. I did find a tutorial last night (there are so many!) that has put me on the right track. Hesido's centralized counting tutorial seems to have all the elements I need. Thanks very much for the response, though.
