LBP2 won't recognise my profile D:

Archive: 15 posts

Well I took a decent break from LBP2 (And by decent I mean 2-3 months), but felt like coming back on for some platforming fun. After updating on the previous couple of updates I missed out on, the game started up, and instead of going straight to my pod, it asked me if I wanted to import my LBP1 profile, then asked for my screen resolution, etc. Then the introduction started and when I finally got into my pod, I realised it had started me from scratch. I had nothing I had saved/made/unlocked from LBP2, only my LBP1 stuff. After quitting the game I went into my game data and saw my new profile that had been created, then went down the bottom of my list and saw my original LBP2 profile that has all of my stuff unlocked on it and all of those good things.

So my main question is, how do I work it so that LBP2 will load that profile (The one with everything I should have) on start instead of loading my new profile that has nothing from LBP2? (I also tried deleting the new one that has nothing on it and loading up the game but it just went straight to the introduction again). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to get back into the game but am finding it really hard without anything I should have

Go to where you backup/import profiles and import your old one. That should do the trick.2012-01-04 08:27:00

Okay, well I did as you suggested, but when I go to load up my profile, it just comes up with my LBP1 profile, even though my LBP2 profile is clearly in my game data folder. This is annoying 2012-01-04 21:23:00

Can anyone else help? Like is there anyway to get my profile data in my game data folder, into my save folder? Because that's apparently where it loads the profile's from, but my one is just sitting in my game data folder doing nothing 2012-01-05 05:48:00

The Game Data is what the game settings are saved to. This is what runs across all accounts on your system. Your Saved Data is a personal save of things that affect your user individually. So the save in your Game Data folder isn't your profile. All profiles automatically go to your Save Data profile. I don't understand why importing your Save Data didn't work.

Did you do it in-game? Or did you try moving it while in your XMB? Because you have to do it in-game.

Start -> Profile -> Import Profile Data (Something like that) -> Choose Save Data you want -> Import

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as of a patch for LBP1, profiles are automatically sent to the game data folder. So in order to get the profile into saved data (where you must then import from) you have to first back it up in-game. This will create a back up in saved data that can be moved to the PS+ cloud or a removable storage device.

If there is no LBP2 profile back up in your saved data folder, then you must have never backed it up from the in-game start menu. Not really sure how you could have lost it from your game data though because the game should still load it from there whether you have a back up or not.

I'm pretty sure there was a bug around the launch of LBP2 where the profiles would randomly reset themselves and the only way to restore them was from a previous back up. Maybe that's what happened?

Perhaps someone else knows another fix? Otherwise, you may have to start LBP2 over from scratch... :

I can only think the latest patches have rendered your profile incompatible.

You could remove the patches and reapply them up to the last point where your profile loaded ok.

Well I never backed up (I know, derpderp) so I guess i'm paying the price

I'll try this out and if it doesn't work looks my LBP days are over

Thank you everyone for help aswell

That's kinda strange. Do both profiles in Game Data have identical filenames?

IIRC, even if a profile reads as "Bob LittleBigPlanet™2 Profile" (assuming your local username is "Bob"), it's not tied to the username "Bob", but the user account which was called "Bob" at the time of creation. So if you delete the account "Bob", then create a new account "Bob", it won't recognize that profile as belonging to the same user.

That may be the issue! Super Aya, to the rescue!

That actually may be it! Not so long ago I upgraded from a fat PS3 to the slim one and did a data transfer, everything went smoothly untill well now I still haven't tried what got suggested by Ayneh, so i'll do that later. If that doesn't work, is there anyway to get the PS3 to associate that profile with my user?

Thanks again everyone, means alot

Umm... I think it goes with your online profile, too. But I've never tried... :/

EDIT: I'm stupid. It would have worked for you if that was the case... xD

Ah. I guess you neglected to read the note in the online manual (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/transferutility.html)...

Before starting the data transfer operation, you must perform the following steps.

[...]

? Back up your profile information and stages you created in LittleBigPlanet? to your saved game. You can then use the data that was backed up when playing LittleBigPlanet? on the destination PS3? system.

If you don't do that, the profile in Game Data won't work correctly after the transfer. The only way to fix it, as far as I'm aware, would be to load up LBP2 on the old fat PS3, export the profile to Save Data there, then copy it to the new slim PS3 and import it.

Yeahh, i'm not big on reading manuals Guess i've learnt my lesson now.

I'm pretty sure I have my fat one lying around still, i'll load it up and see if my saves still on it, thanks Aya
