Help! YLOD, PS+ online storage, and frustration!
Archive: 6 posts
Hello friends. True story.... I've had the YLOD 5 times. I've gone through 5 PS3s (sent to Sony for fixing/refurbishing). That means I've had to restart LBP1-2 all over again about 5 times. From the beginning. What a pain, right? Before my last PS3 YLOD'd, I got a PS+ subscription so I backed up my LP2 save into online storage, knowing it was only a matter of time before my PS3 would die. Well, it happened, and I got a new PS3 Slim for Christmas, 320 GB. I was excited to play LBP2! I look in online storage, and my save file is there, so I copy it back to my new PS3. The problem starts when I begin playing LBP2. The game does not recognize any save file, even though it's in Save Data Utility (PS3). I had 98% goodies, and the story all complete. This is frustrating, because I also had my LBP1 profile imported. Is there a way to get the system to acknowledge that I have that saved profile with all my hard work? PS+ online storage is useless if there isn't. I really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want to restart both games!!!!!! :c So yeah, any useful information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, guys! | 2011-12-30 19:45:00 Author: rodfocov Posts: 96 |
Are you keeping your consoles in a cabinet, or something similar? Are you going to the start menu and manually choosing to import your previous profile? Are you importing your LBP1 and LBP2 profiles separately? You can also back up your LBP profile to a USB stick. You don't need to pay for PS+ to do that, assuming you subscribed solely to be able to back up your data. | 2011-12-30 21:27:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
My PS3 is not in a cabinet, it's on a table. I can't back up my LBP profile to a USB because my old PS3 won't turn on. I just want to know if there is a way for the new PS3 to recognize my LBP2 save file that is in the save data folder. | 2011-12-30 21:41:00 Author: rodfocov Posts: 96 |
I just want to know if there is a way for the new PS3 to recognize my LBP2 save file that is in the save data folder. Ok, I will skip the other stuff. Are you manually going to start menu and importing your previous profile? Do you get any error messages when you do, or do you see no files present at all? Have you patched LBP2 up to the same point where you created your profile back up on PS+? Newer profiles may not be compatible with an unpatched version of LBP2. It may be that the save is linked to your PSN account or console, but since you're using PS+ you must have downloaded it under the same account, right? Have you deactivated your previous consoles tied to your account? | 2011-12-30 22:02:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Oh! I just found it! I deleted the save file, re-copied it from online storage, then in the LBP2 start menu it showed up in Import Profile. yaaaaaay : D Thanks for the help! | 2011-12-30 22:08:00 Author: rodfocov Posts: 96 |
Wow, 5 times YLOD ? What are you doing to him ! Poor beast... You know they say to have at least 1-foot of free space next to the air vent where the heat comes out ? You know you have to turn the PS logo on the PS3 to be in the right way if you turn the PS3 sideways, which makes the air vent change ? | 2012-01-01 01:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
