My Collection of custom levels

Since I made some levels last few months..
And since Im now a member here..
Id like to post some of my levels.

My first level:
Drathi Temple.
Temple/stone/metal
Mostly roller action.
Atmospheric, challenging, hidden area's.

My 2nd level is crashing..
So my 3th level is part 1 of 3.

"The tale of a legendary Sack" Prt 1 of 3.

I had a dream when I just finished "four the others" about a sackdude that entered a sackless world.
I even dreamt about how to set up the switches.. everything!
When I woke up.. and tried out the switchsetups.. they all worked.
If that isnt a reason to finish something.. I dont know what is.
Part one is 90% based on that dream!

Atmospheric, storybased, vulcanic, Sackapiller.

almost no bugs, but... At the end when you have to climb up.. if you jump to much.. you might get stuck... :S (use the retry button!)
(since the memory is full/lack of experience at that time I cant really do that much to fix it)

my 4th level.

The tale of a legendary Sack part 2 of 3. (updated)

Sack now has to undergo some trials..
60% based on my dream.
Almost no bugs, though sometimes sackapiller 2.0 lets you go a little early and you have to walk some seconds to the right.
Also when you are back at the gate, and entered it.. dont jump.. it can get you stuck.
reason for not fixing it.. maxed filesize.. :S
Also.. When you get back to the vulcano with amber.. go left.. right will mean certain doom and you not being able to go any further.. (again.. full filesize and lack of experience)

note: Play part one for the key to part two.
grab onto sackapiller when he is done talking ^^

My 5th level.

The tale of a legendary Sack part 3 0f 3 (updated)

note: Play part two for the key to part three.

Sack now enters deep into the vulcano to defeat Jeff.. an ugly lava-creature.

40% based on my dream, I dreamt about the boss.
Due to filesize I couldnt do any more work on it.. so.. this is it.

Storybased, atmospheric, vulcano, boss, Jeff, Sackapiller 3.0.

after update 1.7 cutscenes wont make you let go of whatever you grabbed.. and therefore had to redo a small part of sackapiller, but its working now, and a tad better than it did.
no real bugs, though the boss can be very hard.
99% chance sackapiller is working like it should.
though my brother managed to rip sackapiller apart before he arrived the top. (lol).

Switch rocket looping roller coaster.

Loopings are easy, just make a circle, and make the cross section out of one _ and when the car moves over it, let a trigger rotate the platform to |.
Anyway, just check out the map, find the jetpack (near finish) and let the rollercoaster go for an automated spin, so you can see how you can create loopings.

I created this level to test out some sackapiller stuff, and eventually actually finished it off as a level.
For every lap you gain some points, if you fall off, no points.
Use the retry button to get back at the boarding platform.. the coaster will come back to you. (takes some time)

coaster uses rockets to propell and brake.
atm 40 is the highest score.. who can reach 100

"Nightmare in Darkness"

Pitch black, dissolving platforms, follow the lights.
psychedelic, emotional based adventure.
Take it slow and easy, and follow the lights.. if you go to fast.. you might die.
also, READ!!! to get the whole vibe, you should read the messages.

Photos wont do this level any good.. all I say is..
Not for the faint hearted.. and not for Kids..

Switchboardtutorial/package for the community.

(actually made for Little Big Land, but why not post elsewhere?)
version 1 doesnt contain tutorial-ish stuff, way less switches.

It does not explain how to create a switchboard from scratch,
If you cant tell by looking at them, you should follow the basic tutorials.
I do explain the switches, and show a few examples of what can be done with switches combined with emitters, pistons, timers etc.

As an added bonus, I added my latest switchboard discoveries as community items,
And.. whats that?
As an extra superduper bonus: I let you download the level so you can look at the wires and settings in the editor!!

Just.. Please dont go publishing it as if it is yours! (unless your MM )

And.. as an extra bonus... Ill tell you something I actually wanted to keep a secret..
What it is?
I wont tell you right here, I made an example in my level!

Updated the switchboard tutorial/package for the community to 1.5.
More switches explained, and with that some idea's to hopefully tickle your imagination.

From a "permaswitch" all the way to an "on > off > on/off > off switch"

The tale of a Legendary Sack part 1 is now updated to 1.5.
less hinder in the foreground, changed some talker-times.
Added more lights and since i optimised a bit more i used some spare memory for some extra score bubbles!

Why do you use those stickers instead of keys? it's pretty irritating to load a level and realize that you can't play it.2009-01-04 17:17:00

Ive made it very clear that you need to play level 1 for level 2 and 3. (in the readme)
If i used keys, nobody would even be able to see level 2 or three, let alone find 1 who was released earlier.

why would you start on part 3 if its a trilogy?

aha , i did start at part one but when i noticed that you used stickers instead of keys i just got curious.

But i still think that the best solution would be to not have any keys or stickerswitches at all because then people can choose for themselves what they want to play, if they want they could try part three first and if they liked it they could continue with part one. Both keys and your solution are actually unnecessary as they only limit thee players freedom of choice. If i for some reason want begin on part three and cant i would get irritated and then go to part one, if i then liked part one i probably would continue and if i don't like it i would quit. But if i could start at part three then i wouldn't get irritated and if i liked it i would go to part one and play from there, so there is no difference except that i wouldn't get irritated and it limits my choices.

My logic here is probably pretty unlogical , but anyway...

If players dont want to be limited, go play oblivion or fallout, one key doesnt make it limited.
people can make their own choices, and if they still want to try part 1 after part 2 or 3, im happy, if they rate it a 1 and go on to the next bonus community item.. fine by me, i never wanted his/her time anyway.

There are so many places in the story levels and even some levels where you need 2 to 4 players..
well that would be a huge bottleneck.. maybe remove those because if the player is alone he cant get all bonusses..

I am the boss of my levels,
I decide the rules, start at part one, finish part 3.
if people are bothered by it let them play one of the 10000 crappy bonus community item levels.

also,
If a (normal) player (with a healthy set of brains) starts at part 3 and opens it, it might also get him curious on whats behind the other side of the door.


If he actually takes the time to start at part 1 and eventually finish part 3 I really respect that.
If they dont, fine by me.

Will they rate my levels lower if they cant play it at first, sure.. but I dont give a **** about the score, rating or hearts.. I might have done the first one or 2 levels..
But knowing that a level with 10k community bonus items is getting 5 out of 5 stars, and has 10k hearts..

The score is worthless, hearts are worthless and people saying I get stuck (but wont tell me friggin where) are worthless.

Sorry, woke up angry (cold.. i hates it),

And I do understand where you are coming from,
I understand your perspective,
but I am not opening the levels for everyone.
Only people that take an efford will get to the finish.

And if they can choose for themselves what to play..
Let them choose, I did something different.
you can hate it,
you can love it,
you can discard it,
You can heart it, you can rate it.
But I created it, I finished it, I had a lot of fun creating it, I got a lot of experience creating it,
And I dont really mind if 1 player plays the level or 10.000.

I had fun creating it.
And as long as there isnt a decent level-review website with actually understandable ratings and people that know what they are talking about are reviewing the level.
I dont mind if people hate it.

Sorry didn't mean to insult you or anything, just reflecting over the keys and trying to find the best solution.

We probably have very different perspectives as you're an experienced creator with lots of published levels and I'm a n00b who still hasn't managed to publish his first (i hate testing). I believe in the system (at least since they fixed it) and i create mostly because i hope to get high scores that i can be proud of :hero:. that is why i stubbornly will continue to give one heart to every crappy prize level i see and give 4 or 5/5 stars and heart to levels like yours.

You should try and get a high score,
You should try and gets lots of hearts,
it does help you understand what is good and what is not.. (especially if players leave good comments on what went wrong).

anyways, if you ever need some advice on a level, just ask.
I wont go "ugly!!!!" or "give up!!!"
But I might tell what can be better.

for starters
Dont use stickers as keys.. Someone told me they dont like that

Alex Evans said that there are more than 500,000+ now in the Gamespot Bonus Round. (That's half a million!)

Ok these look like great pictures from pretty awesome levels! I dont know why i've never seen any of them before (edit: maybe its due to him losing his data?). If they are still up i would love to play them.

Looks like he made these really early on and thats what impresses me most- the standard he was at back then! Imagine if he were still making levels a year later! Im sure Luos_Desruc would have been one of the greatest creators if this was the case!

wow its been a while.
Yup, I lost almost all of my levels trough the big 1.07 bug.
Most of the levels I could probably redo in a few days, but I was working on two levels..
And those two levels started to grow on me in such a way that I was really really angry @ MM for b0rking things so much with a few simple bugs that took them months to fix.
Since the updates after 1.07 didnt fix anything I sold my lbp copy.

too bad it has been a year allready.. felt like it was yesterday.

Yeah i can imagine ur anger! Its so bad that this game can be so glitchy at times. If i was u tho, id really consider picking up another copy of this game (pretty cheap) and put ur level creating techniques into practice again. Id love to see some levels from u! Also, ur missing out on some of the incredible levels to come out of lbp since ur departure.

true, I might have seen 100's of amazing levels out there.
but probably also 100000's of bad ones
I do have the urge of redoing my "legendary sack" story into a 6 or 7 level piece.. but that would mean two months of non-stop work at least.
Also what about the editor-related updates/addons.. are they free? still available? will I not all of a sudden lose months of work again?

That.. And I quite flamed MM so there is also he chance my account was banned on lbp, not something I am proud of.
but if you can still find one of my levels online, chances are my profile isnt banned .

Id rather poke in an afterbirth with a stick than pay money for something that could add something to the editor.

In all my editor years, ive never witnessed a company that makes you pay for say a new material.

also even with 1.19 everything is still borked.
